As Molekule has stated in the past and Johnny has recently above, ZDDP is a cheap AW additive and can be replaced by better additives or alternative addtives. Mobil emailed me this awhile ago about this issue after asking a similar question:

performance) part of the ZDDP that had to be reduced.
