Getting a free 1997 Chevy 1500 extended cab

RockAuto has a wide variety of grades of most parts. From the real budget parts made by who knows to high quality heavy duty or performance parts. If it takes a lot of time to install then I am not one to get a cheap part and need to replace it even if its free from a warranty perspective. Watch the shipping on RockAuto. Order a lot of parts at once vs small numbers of parts every week. Given its a southern car and no or little rust probably worth it. If it was rusty and no 4WD then up north I would say think carefully.

RockAuto sends me closeout part lists every now and then. The lists are for the various cars that I bought parts for over the years. Have gotten some very good deals on ACDelco parts on 90's GM vehicles.

Also, Amazon has some very cheap parts at times. I put stuff in my save for later list, and then watch the prices.

I love those 1990s Chevy pickups. Sounds like you have a good runner good mechanicals just a few peripheral issues to sort. Not uncommon for a 20+ year old American pickup that will probably run another 20 years in the right hands. Enjoy.

It actually rained in TX a few days ago and I found a leak on passenger side into the blower motor housing. Apparently not too uncommon for these trucks. Removed cowl and inspected/cleaned the fresh air inlet. Sealed it up good with some clear silicone. Rained Sat night and it didn't leak!

Now to find a nice white hood for it at the salvage yards.

I've had several trucks since I was in my early 20's. All were new and nice. This will be my beater truck. The go to the dump, get mulch, firewood, pool chemicals, go to Home Depot truck.
