Germany Poll: Image Ranking vs Customer Satisfaction rating

After 25 'other' vehicles I have a Sube (Outback). Now I know what a quality vehicle and even more importantly a quality vendor/service team is. Free clutch and slave cylinder replacement 6 and 9 months after the warranty expired. Lot's of luck if you think anybody else will do that!

Warranty and service differ by country. When my US-bought Audi developed a transmission problem (damaged main shaft bearing and damaged 2nd gear) at under 30k miles, Audi of America had the dealer fix it (took 8 weeks due to lack of spare parts and expertise - reverse gear was installed backwards). Since complaing to AoA didn't help, I turned directly to Audi AG Germany. I was told, had I bought the vehicle in any European country, Audi would have simply swapped out the faulty transmission under warranty. However, due to the lower cost (the car cost at the time 30k in the US -- in Europe) it would have cost almost double that) of the car in the US, AoA could not afford, or wasn't willing, to replace a $9k transmission.

"Audi Junkie, remember that a Hyundai may cost the half of an Audi!"

Really? iirc, you can get a Sonota up over $26k, same as an A4. Myth-BUSTED!

CR has 7+ years of detailed repair history that is published. I guess that is less signifigant than a new Hundai owner's opinion, whose last car was a Dodge Shadow. Let's revive the survey showing Hundai owners spend LESS per repair service than Range Rover owners and hang our hats on that.

Oh, so now you're only comparing the Sonata to the A4. What about the other OT threads you've started where you bash ALL of the Hyundai models?

But lets stay on point.

Comparing a fully loaded Sonata to a base model A4 is rediculous. And, in your other posts, you've tried to make this comparison an "A4 vs. $13,000 Elantra" showdown. It's stupid. Why not compare a Maybach to an Elantra?

I don't get your agenda as of late? What is the point of bashing other people's affordable cars? Do you feel better? Are you fronting a "safety crusade" in order to save them? Really, what's the point?

BTW: I don't own, nor have I ever owned, a Hyundai. I just think repeated bashing of them everyday by Audi Junkie is lame.

AJ,

In those 7 years of repair history, VW/Audi has fallen down. Well, Audi has come up a bit in the past year or two.

But in the past 5 years, Hyundai has eclipsed the efforts of many manufacurers with their ability to reduce problems, increse quality and crank out new models.

VW is still fixing windows, coils, brake light switches and MAFS on models released 6 years ago. I wonder if they will ever be competitive in the US market?

What I think is lame is ANY car owner who thinks their car is something it's not...especially under-informed ones.

Quote from another current thread:
My Suzuki Forenza is much better and safer than the car it replaced, a 1986 Dodge Shadow.

Pretty much says it all.

"reduce problems, increse quality and crank out new models"

...as opposed to??? Of course quality goes up when there is only one way to go!

23 Hyundai models with "Poor" or "Marginal" overall ratings. 17 w/ black marks (poor) in the "Injuries" section and check those "Death Ratings", lol.

10 KIA models with "Poor" or "Marginal" out of 20 models.

"For the first time since 2001 a vehicle garnered the worst result possible in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's frontal crash tests. That illustrious award goes to the Kia Spectra sedan. The poor rating came after crash-test dummy's experienced head, chest and leg damage after 40 mph frontal crashes. The poor rating is not good news for Kia that has only recently escaped quality concerns from the public"

My cousin's neighbours got an Elantra over the summer, they rave about it. Their last main ride was a 1977-ish Caddy, although there are a few other cars on their property that don't run. They have a doughnut on the R/R of the Elantra that has been there since before Thanksgiving. Yeah, I'll take their advice on cars. Quick, send them a survey with a fresh dollar bill in the envelope! lol.

Audi Junkie

I've been through 3 hit and runs. One of them..i was going 70 MPH when a van struck me and then ran away. the side of my car was bad.

Im still alive without one scratch.

BTW... Just because Germans are more satisfied with None German cars, doesn't mean you have to be all mad and jealous, because thats what you sound like now.

I wonder if AJ would finally go away if we all say 1000 times "...Audi is the best car in the world. all else is crap"...not because it's true, but just to get him to stop this behavior...In truth, Audi is worse than a lot of cars out there, and, probably, judging by the anxiety that AJ shows, worse than Hyundai, too, especially with the price factored in...and all the electrical problems that never go away...but those 2 makes can't be really compared due to the difference in price class; I just said that because the way the audi is defended is suspicious.

a comparision btw. Audi and BMW. or btw Hyundai and Suzuki (although in an Edmunds report Hyundai beat both the Camry and Accord recently) would be more suitable.

of course that can't be done, because Audi would lose against all the similar cars in that price range.

His constant bashing of people who aren't rich, and drive affordable cars is disgusting, and should be noted.

Does anybody else get the feeling that Audi Junkie's life is pretty much defined by the fact he drives an Audi? Fortunately, this is a website where people are well versed in Audi's reputation for poor reliability and high depreciation.

Oh well. I guess as long as he keeps up these daily anti-Hyundai rants at BITOG, we'll keep giving him the attention he so desperately craves...

I'll bet this guy is totally "satisfied" with his car.

Comparisons are always welcome, if you actually care to offer any.

Oh, don't attribute this thread to me...sorry.

Actually, I'm sad that you post pics of new Audi's and claim them to be yours. Let's be honest about your ride...

That's what I think of when you talk. A guy with an old beat up Audi who thinks we're impressed with it. One question though: I can't see the rear window; do you have a sticker of Calvin peeing on an Opel emblem?

OK, you got me. Here is an actual pic of me and my car.

Sorry, that's my 2002 that I kept for only 6 months. Did not like the console/kneeroom. That's what you get when you let a woman design the interior. See the Quantum and Coupe GT in the background? BTW- that 100LS is not bad! I'd drive it, needs a detail though. I may be taking delivery of a 1977 Audi Fox GTI with a 1600cc race engine. It's CrAzY quick.

Here is another pic of the 02. For their best customers, Audi rented out Nazerath Speedway and some instructors for a day. Kinda nice.

What cars have you guys had on the track? Not the T-Bird? lol.

Well, perhaps a slight paraphrasing, but...

When dealing with customer surveys, remember that some are conducted by statisticians (or at least in consultation with them) and some are not. CR survery are surveys of their readership only. By definition then, they do not reflect the opinions of the marketplace.

"lol?"

Hey, um Mr. Lupo, it's almost 2006. Maybe "LOL" sounds cool when your racing around in your old 80 with Hammer pants on and a nice fade, but in today's world we don't use "LOL" anymore.

Okay?

BTW: That goes for "Where's the Beef" and "That's the Ticket" too.
