GeorgeCLS "TESTING" Mobil 1

You can take Mobil 1 0W-40 off the list of ideal high temperature oils, PAO or not. I have some pics of test results if someone would be kind enough to resize them and post them.

JAG, I may be able to help you out, PM me.

Sorry but fellas I am at the mercy of the lab doing the testing. As I indicated in my initial post, the lab is not MY lab, so I have no control over run sequences. I indicated the lab is swamped but they agreed to fit in the GC at some point. I have called several times and they say they are swamped with unusually large testing, especially for this time of year...
I am NOT a priority customer of this lab, believe me..
They have baseline corporate types who ARE their baseline..
So, have patience, or move on to someone else who will get the GC run. I have not given up but you must understand what some labs are like; there is no amount of money or threat that will cause some labs to move forward with expeditious treatment...

Thanks for all you have done so far. I, for one will be waiting to hear from you on this.

So, from now on guys I will post my weekly update on the GC status, even if it is "have heard nothing from the lab". As I shared in my initial post (of course, since it has been stated numerous times by folks on this site, I have no credibility, so what would it matter anyway: initials after one's name, numerous patents for oil filtration, 35 years of experience have absolutely no relevance or meaning on this board..) And then one reads,"Gee, why is GeorgeCLS no longer posting?" Duhhh... I post what is good, valid information and then am called an idiot 3 posts later, or that my source is an idiot...... Yes, really makes one want to participate and share 35 years of experience.......

I just want to give a big thanks for the work you have done and are doing. It's great when members can get good, hard info. It is appreciated.

George, I for one APPRECIATE your efforts here. I also understand why those who are more knowledgeable (such as yourself) can not post here all that often as they are grilled & drilled by a faction of other members. Makes for a sour BITOG experience, sadly.

Like blsnelling said, just shrug it off. Those who choose not to be informed and live with their biases, those who are impatient, or those who don't respect others generally are not enlightened by your input...they only see it as more fuel for their illegitimate fire.

However, the majority of us ARE enlightened and I thank you for your time spent here! Keep up the good work!!

I know George and can say that he is a man of character and integrity. Believe me, he WILL follow up on what he is doing and post the results.
Give him a break and wait for the info!

George, I thought you had bailed on us months ago and for that I apologize. I had no idea you were in a motorcycle accident.

Some on here can't sleep at night bc of XOM. They have such an anti-XOM agenda that they are taking their frustrations out on anything related to XOM.

I think posting once a week will be a good idea. Thanks for doing this.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. Very much appreciated. As I indicated previously, there are not many GC's used in commercial lubrication labs. Several manufacturing companies I work with have GC's but they are both inoperative and not a high priority to have repaired as they are expensive to maintain, served a purpose for each company but currently not needed in their labs..
So, the only lab that has an operational GC that I work with is loaded with contract work right now; the lab indicated that they would try to work it in but to date have not been able to. Even in the best of times this lab takes weeks to get just normal results returned...
So, I/we are at the mercy of the only lab I work with that has an operational GC machine, with a PhD whom I have utmost respect in evaluation.

Cool

Thanks for doing this.

It was in another post on these forums that I saw some other people telling 'Bill in Utah' to stick around even though he was getting tired of all the bashing from the "experts" on these forums.

I found your previous G.C. results absolutely fascinating, thanks for taking the effort and making the time to share those results with us. Don't let the "know it alls" get you down. I for one appreciate the scope of what you're trying to do.

And then there's people like buster, who have such a fetish for everything EOM that he can't stop starting threads on it every other day even though most people have long got over the fact that most of the M1 product line is made from majority group III basestocks.

It was Tom in NJ who posted the orig discussion on grp III M1. George is trying to verify that independently.

IMHO George will have data that is "inconclusive" for the reason that of all the labs I know of only a few will/can do GC and to interpet it correctly a base line GPIII and PAO will be needed so I do not think much will come of this IMHO, if you do not like this post to bad it is MY OPINION.
Also of the labs that can do it correctly Hatco is one if they say so then it is true for the vis grade that was run only.
bruce

I agree Bruce, Labs that can actually interpret the differnce between PAO and A good Grp III are probably few and far between. Although I apluad George for the follow up testing the conclusion has alreadyt been made.
Personaly I don't think Grp III properly formulated has a disadvantgage for long drains compared to PAO's. The only Advantage I will concede to PAO oils is extreme cold weather performance of -30f or below. The issue with Exxonmobil and the Mobil 1 line at this point is their truthfullness with the customers who have enough knowledge to ask a good question. If they state that they have found that formulating with GRP III is a good route for extended drains and extropliate on the technology involved in base oils and the overall energy consumed in the production of different base oils to show that the grp III is the better choice for economical, formulating and environmental reasons. I mnyself would agree with them. The fear of confronting the public with the truth is my primary issue with EM.

I agree with bruce/bryan. Also, it won't be long, IMO, before many others go that route as well. Their won't be much of a difference in performance other than maybe extreme cold as Bryan/bruce have stated.

It's funny though how 427 ends up posting in all those XOM threads.

Get over it. Go argue with someone else today.

Mine too, the deception is the main issue. Since they made such a stink of Castrol "fake" synthetic. That and the price didn't lower, in fact it went higher.

We have seen for sometime that results have not been stellar with Mobil 1. Maybe this is when the switch to group III occured?

George, I think you're doing this board a great favor. I think it's great when someone like yourself or Tom brings important product info forward.

Ahhhh, George, so good to hear. I admit to a certain amount of "baiting" to have you sound off and post something. But the only ones who have lost credibility at this point are those that said that "big oil" had put the quash on your activities as far as testing goes.
There are so many of us who want to see the results. I admit to being one of those who is disappointed with ex-Mobil. But I consider myself open minded enough to look at new evidence. Thanks for letting us know where the testing stands!

Again, I just hated to get on line and say "no report yet"...
Believe me, I contacted every lab, every supplier I knew that had GC's as I *knew* the lab we are using would be slow, but good.. However, this is indeed far beyond what I thought and I now see that should have been on here sharing that information as updates.. Unforunately I have this darned job that I must do and I lost track of time in that sample sent, wait for results.. This is NOT a lab one bugs as it makes no difference; I have in the past and soon learned to 'cool it', as I would not get results one minute sooner, maybe later...
We WILL get results and they would surely be completed within the next several weeks...... I will keep all posted.
