I guess people still think that if they know the basestocks of an oil, they can judge its performance relative to other oils. I wish it were that simple but it's not. You have to test the performance of an oil in whatever category(s) you are interested in, not part of its DNA. You can take Mobil 1 0W-40 off the list of ideal high temperature oils, PAO or not. I have some pics of test results if someone would be kind enough to resize them and post them.
If this is true, he should be man enough to say, "I've decided to not test the oil" or something. As it is, there are many of us waiting for results. Come on George, step up to the plate! Tell us SOMETHING. Don't be afraid say, "someone else needs to take up the matter." Either step up or loose credibility.

This actually demolishes the credibility of his employer; George lost his credibility a while back. Wait, EOM lost their credibility a while back too!

Could somebody tell me what kind of test we're talking about? If it's a $20 VOA from Blackstone, then I'd be happy to submit 2 virgin samples of regular Mobil 1 5W30 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30. Or are we talking about a CG test? If CG what do those cost and can Blackstone do it?
GC (Gas Chromatography). You also need someone skilled in interpretation. You might be able to run samples of pure PAO, AN, Various Kinds of Esters, EOP, GIII of various types to help you identify exactly what you are looking at. Unless you have access to GC in a college chemistry lab likely you are going to pay a pretty good price to get this done.

Ahhhhhhhh, Tom already tested it via GC. That's what the controversy is all about!
Actually GC's are pretty common in many industries. We had one in a small manufacturing company where I used to work. We used it to do analyzes on metals, surface plating, and electrolysis.
Heck, we even had an SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope).
Now I never used it...they wouldn't let me near the stuff!
I may have missed a post or two, but I only saw where he tested Mobil 1 Extended Performance oils. I'm interested in the "regular" M1 analysis. I mentioned Tom_NJ because he seems to know his stuff--with a glance at the results, he sniffs out the basics we need. That's what I mean about a "quicky" analysis that might be affordable.
