I don't know that Wendt would ever be in consideration for the world's best actor, but he sure carried that role with aplomb. His other acting projects paled in comparison to that iconic role. Not that he was lazy or unemployed; he worked a long time in his profession and was well liked everywhere.
Cheers would not have been the same without him. And that is how I shall remember him.
