GC plus 12 oz. LC - '02 Suburban Z71 5.3l Vortec

Here are the last three UOAs on this motor

Oils left ot right were: GC - Syntec 0W30 US made - Redline 5w30

The GC had about 1300 miles of heavy use pulling a 3500 lbs. trailer from Iowa to North Carolina on the interstate in 90F weather during two days in June.

Total miles on the Burb are now 11,722 mls.

Mileages on oil were: 3094 - 1582 - 2488

Why are you changing this oil so often? Except the the usual GM copper, the oil looks great. Leave it in the engine until the oil life monitor tells you to change it. It's probably still good, but you've got a warranty to protect.

Leftover from the over 550 ppm Redline has in it .... typical Redline remnant issue

Nothing wrong with using LC. In fact a lot of people highly recommend it here. It just would of been nice to see how the GC would of done on it's own.
 
Hey with all the Moly in the Redline, I wonder if it would be good Honda breakin' oil, since that's how they come from the factory, loaded with Moly.

Honestly from what I have seen I do not believe that the GC without LC would have done any worse. LC in my opinion is a nice supplement to keep the engine clean, but does not reduce wear on lower mileage OCIs at all .. maybe it helps when you stretch your OCI, but I'll never get there.
