GC & oil consumption?

everyone seems to really like this stuff and to me it sounds good im not worried about using the 0w rather than the recomended 5w or 10w,

What I am concerned about is currently im burning a fair amount of oil varying from 1L per 1000-1750km depending on the oil (10w30's and 10w40's) im wondering if GC is gonna help or make things worse. I tried some US Castrol Syntec 10w30 and it was the fastest consumption i have seen of any oil i have tried. I know for a fact the culprit is the oil control rings being stuck... 2 torn down engines...

BTW the car is a 94 corolla 1.8L

I definately wouldn't imagine it getting worse.

Assuming all else equal, the 0w30 is at the very upper end of viscosity for a 30 weight, which helps promotes lessened oil consumption.

IMO, if it burned with Syntec 10w30, it will burn with GC. The higher viscosity of GC is not enough to make up for the fact that synthetics tend to make beat-up engines that lived on conventional oils consume more oil. My wife's middle-aged Civic burned Mobil 1 10w30 at same rate as GC, yet the Mobil 1 had 10 cST viscosity and GC has 12 cST viscosity difference. It didn't start burning oil until I switched it over to synthetic from conventional oils.

Start the Auto-RX treatment to try to clean and release the stuck oil control rings. Then see how things go before deciding what oil to settle with.

eliminate the source of sludge, Use true PAO based lubricants wich have much higher standards than crude oil
much better HTHS results

clear exhaust, consuming issue: so it just hasn't gotten bad enough to see yet

Try the ARX treatment and Redline 5w30.

I like Redline and GC, but I see near zero to very little oil consumption with Redline, and slight to moderate oil consumtion with GC.

because up to joining here i thought the heavier wouldn't do any harm, WRONG.

The car is a 1994 corolla 1.8L and has about 100,000km on the current engine.

a 10w30 is only heavier than a 5w30 (or 0W-30) when the oil is (really) cold. When cold you want your oil to thicken as little as possible.. go with a 0W-30
