Is it an approved VW oil? Look in the owners manual.
I have the 2.5 in my Rabbit. GC is 502 spec oil and I use it in mine. Good oil!

tenderloin - If you require a VW502 compliant lubricant these are on the VW List;
Castrol Syntec 5w-40
Mobil 1 0w-40

I put it in a friend's new Rabitt. If you are doing dealer services, skip it for SLX Pro.
I saw an M07 manufacturing date and a VW502 compliant spec on a quart in an Autozone this morning.
Read on this site somewhere that GC was the original "break-in" oil that TDIs came with a few years back. Dunno.

i use mobil 1 0w40 syn in my wifes 2003 beetle with the 2.0 engine it is a vw rated oil -505.0 / 502.0/ 503.01 it meets the vw spects.i have used mobil 1 for the last 23 years and it has all ways done a good job for me.it all so meets the older vw spects for the older tdi engine vw 505.0.it would be a great oil for your wifes car.
