I did not get a TBN this time around as I was getting info more for particle counts. However, it looks as if I'm going to have to dump this oil before the scheduled 7500 interval planned.
Blackstone comments: "We found a slight increase in lead in the latest sample from your Toyota. The lead shows excess wear at the bearings, the heart of your engine. As the oil is free of any contaminants, such as fuel or coolant, and all other wear looks good we doubt this indicates any serious problems. Likely it's a particle streak, a one-time occurrence, and should clear up next time. We'll know more then. We suggest changing this oil to flush the excess lead from the system. Check back in another ~5,000 mi to monitor. The ISO Cleanliness Code read 15/12, very clean."
Questions: I changed the PCV which is threaded into the valve (cam) cover. I used Permatex blue (IIRC) thread sealant on it. Could that be the cause of the increased lead?
I put on a Sure Drain so I could pull the sample (on sale at AA) without dumping the entire sump. Worked like a charm. Could that the be cause of the increased copper this time around?
Should I dump this sump? I have already pushed 6K when I got the report.
Lastly, I'm curious about the "insolubles" and the ISO cleanliness code. This time around the ISO code was the best of the three VOA's I've done, yet it had the highest insoluable level of 0.4%. How can this be? The K&N HP-1003 had ISO Code 17/14 with 0.2% insoluables. The Baldwin B-233 had ISO Code 19/16 with 0.3%. So how can the PureONE have ISO Code 15/12 with 0.4%? Please elaborate, 'cause I don't get it.
Thanks.
