Cars: s2000 and 03 V6 4runner

I need to change oil on my 4runner in a week, so i posted here couple days ago about asking which oil for both of my cars(didn't get enough reply).

Out of many choices, i came down to two kind...T6 and GC...after more research between those two, it seems like GC is better choice for both of my cars. So i went to local AZ today and they had GC for 5.99/qt. So i picked 5qt/Bosch filter and i still have about little more than half amsoil 5w30 in my garage that i still can use. ( T4r V6 takes 5.5 qts)

Simple Question: GC 0w40 is good choice for V6 4runner? ( drives a lot and i'm in TX) I've read good reviews on S2k but not enough info from 4runner owners.

Thanks.

GC is not 0w40. GC is 0w30.

What's the factory recommendation for the 4Runner? I would think 5w30 or even 5w20.

Opps, mistype. Yeah it is 0w30.

Edit:
4runner: Manual says 5w30 also 10w30 will be "ok" but recommand switch back to 5w30.

S2000: 10w30 or 5w40 ( cold)

Maybe Toyota would not recommend a 0w-30 because of the expense and not because it would be a technical problem. But it is hard to imagine how you could go wrong using what they recommend. A friend runs GC 0w-30 in his V8 4Runner and two others run Red Line 0w-20 in very tough hot conditions with good luck. They are desert rats and their 4Runners show a life of scrapes and scars. They repair microwave towers, work in the desert, two a trailer, and although they work a lot at night they both have been known to take a nap in the day with the engine idling and the a/c on full blast for hours at a time. They have no oil related problems and show very little oil consumption over 5-7k oci's. So I guess it is possible to use many different oils in any given engine.

GC is what alot of 4runner guys run if they dont run Amsoil stuff. you can pretty much throw any oil in the V6 or the V8 and it wont matter to it.

Being from TX, I would maybe go with the cheapest 5w30 you could find in the winter and then step up to the GC in the summer months.

Thanks guys.

I've search for few hours and i can't seem to find " how thick is GC compare other 5w30" Anyone remember any link?

Thanks again.

maybe someone will chime in with the CST for the new stuff but I know its on the thicker side and quite stout. Ran it in my 2uz (v8) 4runner and it seemed to like it quite a bit.

Thanks man! I will try it.

Curious, I have a half bottle of GTX(5w30) and Amsoil ASL(5w30). My car has 110k and this is first syn for my 4runner. Which one should I use with GC? Its only half qt but will that be matter which one I use?
