I am very impressed with Wearcheck, I dropped off this sample this morning at 8am and got the results already!

This is my very first UOA with this car, and it's the very first run with GC as well. Previous fill was most likely Mobil 1 5w30.

Here are the results:

5000 miles on oil
Aug7-Oct 11 (2 months)
37,000 miles on engine
German Castrol Syntec 0w30
K&N oil filter
K&N air filter
Daily driver, lots of full throttle
9 quarter mile runs, 10 dyno runs
7L oil capacity
no top up oil
Onboard computer said it had 39% oil life left

Iron 8
Lead 1
Aluminum 3
Copper 2
Chromium 0
Nickel 0
Titanium 0
Tin 0
Silver 0
Vanadium 0
Silicon 7
Potassium 0
Sodium 0
Boron 5
Barium 0
Manganese 3
Calcium 2419
Magnesium 101
Moly 26
Phosphorus 737
Zinc 831
Sulfur 2420
Oxidation 56%
Nitration 39%
Sulfation 42%
Fuel 0
Water 0
Glycol 0
Viscosity 11.5 cst at 100c
TBN 6.2

To say I'm happy would be a major understatement! I am extremely impressed with this oil now! I figured the first run would not be anywhere near as good as this, and I did not expect the K&N air filter to do so well. It's definitely staying in the car! I'm also happy to see the copper so super low! I guess not all LS1s put out tons of copper for a very long time. I fully expected to see 50-60ppm there.

This has got to be the very best LS1 oil analysis ever posted on here. I just love the fact that it did not consume any oil, and there is no piston slap in this engine whatsover. I definitely found myself the car of my dreams, in every way! Ya baby!

Most Excellent!

Glad to see the K&N worked well. Keep it kinda dirty!

Also, funny how the oxidation # closely corresponds to the oil life monitor. I wonder how LC would help. I doubt though that you would go longer than 5K on an OCI with your right foot!

My plan is to basically never clean the K&N filter for a very long time! I know it's rather fresh too, so that makes this even more impressive! I've even got a modified airbox on the car, taken from a Z06 Corvette, and it's opening has been dremelled out for more airflow!

The plan is to do another 5k interval, which should bring me until around early to mid December. Then I'll run a 6k interval which should bring me to May. Then I will run that interval for as long as the oil life monitor tells me. I estimate it should be around 8k or so.

I think we can all agree that German Castrol is the best 30wt oil on the market. Unbelievable. I don't like using the worst "best", but it's just so consistant.

Whats the status on the break down of this oil? Can we all chip in and have it looked at? I want to know what it is!

Congrats Patman! Great oil in a great car! This engine will last you a lonnnnng time with this combination. It just doesn't get much better than this. Well, maybe some LC in there, but that's about it.

After the dyno tuning it got 291rwhp and 302rwtq. Not bad for an automatic C5.

It's best ET so far has been a 13.23 at 105 mph, but I know it'll run in the 12s when I get to run it on a cold fall day. If the weather holds up I will run it this weekend, otherwise it'll be the weekend after.

On the Corvette it's got a ton of readouts on it's driver information center, and it shows an exact percentage for the oil life. It also shows oil temperature, oil pressure, coolant temperature, transmission temperature, each individual tire pressure, average and instant mpg, average speed, a timer, two different trip meters and the odometer of course. I love toggling through all the different readings when I'm stuck in traffic.

When I read my Corvette's report first I almost thought that they mixed it up with my wife's Honda's oil sample, but when I look closer at both reports I can tell for sure that they are correct. Even if they mixed the two of them up, both samples were very close in wear anyways.

I guess I'll have to back up this report with a bunch more in the future just for my own proof.

SWEET! I've never had a problem with K&Ns, and my UOA consistently bear that out. However, I do believe their dirt removal effectiveness is related to the air speed going through the filter. When you have a nice big filter with lots of surface area, you won’t be ramming air through the media (giving it a chance to trap the dirt). My Volvo and Jeep both have big air boxes and both have great Si readings. Cars with smaller air boxes (like LS1 Camaros, for example) are forcing air at a faster rate across the filter media, which I believe is why they show worse Si concentrations. Great report.

The analysis sure did not pic up the common elements that are too small to be caught in the filter thats normal for this engine .

Don't suppose they are laying in the oil pan or on top of the cylinder head deck from the oil not holding them in suspension do we ?

These engine typically do throw alot of wear metals out unlike a Toyota ya know .

Just curious as to the forums thoughts about the possibilty
