My fiancees 2003 Civic. Previously used the Honda 0w20 every 8,000Km. Honda oil filter. Car is used for longer trips to work and school but also a bit of city traffic driving. This is a winter interval, car is always parked outside with overnight temps hitting -25 Deg C. Now using the XD-3 0w30 for a comparison. Silicon is a little high, will need to check the intake plumbing.
Oil capacity seems to be about 3.5L, this interval was done in about 3 months, she drives a lot.

GADAYUM!

Si is probably from an air filter needing changing and the hose clamps tightened on the intake assembly.

Love to see the results compared to 0w30 XD3. With the Si taken care of, the lead and iron should take a drop.

The low levels of Fe/Cr/Al would indicate you DON'T have an air filter issue. Some of this silicone is probably gasket leaching and some is anti-foam additive from the add pack in the oil.

I wouldn't waste too much time troubleshooting this engine; it looks fine to me. Lead wear is a bit high, but probably related to the very cold weather and startup wear. I'd expect that to go down when it warms up....

11ppm Si in 10k is nothing to worry about. But checking for leaks isn't going to hurt anything. Chock up another great GC UOA! I also look forward to your XD3 report. I'll be posting another one here this week.

Yep, it looks like they've stopped using MMT in the gas around here. Manganese numbers are very low.

Maybe she uses mostly Sunoco gas though, which contains no MMT in it.
