Huh? It's to saturate the seals! the 09+ cars BLAST oil at shut-down to help the apex seals at the next start and other seals during inactivity (told to me by a master Mazda tech at the dealer that has done many a rotary swap for those under the rx8's warranty).

Here's a writeup I did on the club site to gather as much as I could from many places:

Yeah but my point still remains. How do you UOA oil which has been burnt and sent out the exhaust?

Its not like a 2 stroke. It has an actual oil sump for lubrication of internal parts. The stock setup pulls a bit of oil from the sump and injects it into the engine. So when you change it there is less oil there but its not like its all gone.

I still think they should have set these up with a separate oil reservoir for the injectors. Design it to be the max oil that you could use on the longest approved oci. Then throw in some idiot protection where it flashes fill oil tank for 5 minutes every time you start it when it gets low. As the ultimate have it not allow the car to start the next time once it gets below a center level. With the fill oil tank light on solid.

I'm just saying if jetskis and snowmobiles can get away with it then a car should be able to also.

Good idea, and yeah I rev it before I shutdown although it's not really needed for me with the LS Yukon Coils I run.

Good write up Brandini.
