Projects like this are cheap and really fun. Now you get to monitor your oil pressure while you're mowing. It will be interesting to see how it changes as the oil gets hotter and hotter.

Is that the end of a Purolator Pureone I see in the foreground of the picture?

, yep it's a P1 L10241.

The only problem I see is that the stripes in your yard will now be crooked due to looking at the gauges all the time..

The only small engine tach I have is old as time. It has bars that vibrate in harmony with the engine and are labeled with rpm ranges. I got it at a garage sale for a few bucks. It's very large and heavy - not something that could be strapped on an engine.

My .02

The oil temps seem okayish.

The oil temps too low....the tubing size and number of feet runs to the gauge probably are the reasons.

If I were gonna do something I would run just an oil warning alarm with < 1' of hose.

Pete there's no supply tube to the temp gauge,it's a electronic gauge, temp sensor T'd in the pressure port.

them oil temp shots are only after 15 or so mins idling with some full throttle time, she'll be a whole lot hotter once mowing starts

UPDATE: Mowed the lawn today wasn't too hot 73deg the engine didn't work to hard, grass was on the short side.

oil used; Amsoil ACD 10w30/SAE 30W
oil filter PureOne L10241

idle-cold, oil-cold

full throttle-hot, oil-hot After mowing for 1.5 hrs 1ish acres

Idle-hot, oil-hot this is after 10 mins of idling notice how temps rised and oil pressure dropped some? that's why one should always mow at full throttle to get the best cooling. All in all not as high of temps i thought i would see, cool day though that i'm sure had something to do with it and the engine wasn't working hard.

I have the same mower except it's an '03 model (18 HP). Have you had to replace the head gasket yet?
