So, this morning, nearly all gas stations in Indian Land and Fort Mill, SC areas have covers over the gas pumps. 2 of the biggest stations here are empty.

Anyone have any idea what's up?

Do you know they're empty?
Maybe....
Water discovered in storage tanks (necessitating cleaning)?
Local petroleum distributors engaged in a territorial shoving match, interrupting deliveries?
Engineered "shortage" featuring political posturing and other cheap shots?
Regionally owned stations with an owner who was just court ordered to cease operation (asset seizure-whatever)?
Maybe some bills mounted up and payment was demanded, and deliveries were curtailed?
Discovery of an incorrect "tax dye" in their storage tanks (fuel tax dodge)? The taxman will be around to inspect the contents. In the meantime, the involved stations are closed.

I don't know. It is several stations. All up and down 521. Found one spot that had gas and line is pretty long......

Harkens back to 2021 with that Colonial Pipeline sabotage.

I still can't find an explanation about what's happening.

Well, I saw a $4.09 tonight for rag (cash price). I'm selling the EV! Hallelujah!
$4.30 is usually as good as it gets around here...
I consistently get 3.89-4.09 at Costco gasoline in California, and yes I do travel all over Cali, all the time.

$3.27 to $3.49 for 87 in my area of Pa.

As to the OP's question, I would only guess that there's a problem with distribution at a local pipeline. That's assuming that the area is served by a pipeline source.

We've been ok in Rock Hill and Fort Mill on the other side of 77.

When I moved here I'd never thought I'd have to say "Fort Mill on the other side of 77" lol. It has grown exponentially in the last 28 years.

Indian Land was barely even a wide spot in the road....

I've known that area for last 17 years, and even in that timeframe it changed dramatically.
