Used to have dirt cheap gas in the area in the heyday... I used to pass it on the way to Florida... in August of this year it looked highly neutered..

Almost closed down yes. Was the original Buc-ees. Nothing new under the sun :ROFLMAO:

Fun fact - former fed chairman Ben Bernanke used to work there in the summer as a kid. He is from the general area.

Last time I stopped there was about 20 years ago and it was pretty run down. Not too many open businesses were left except a couple restaurants and a gift shop. It was kind of run down and depressing.

Yeah I remember way back when they had billboards 300 miles out advertising it every few miles

When you have a lucrative business enjoy it because one day it won't be there.

It’s interesting that our prices are not that far off yours because historically they used to be considerably cheaper in the US, often one dollar per gallon cheaper. There was a time where I could save $15 per tankful on gas whenever I crossed the border into the USA
Last year in PA about 7 miles away my Sunoco was $2.65 which was great. Even though we have refineries in the area we never get the Midwest prices... let alone mid south prices..

Wonder how that compares to the old Wall Drug in the 1970's. We stopped there a few times when I was stationed at Fort Lewis. It was pretty ratty. 20 yrs later, we stopped there and the next generation family had done a whole lot of improvements on it, including a decent restaurant.
