I love garlic. Good thing because after a nasty episode of food poisoning a few years ago I can't eat onions for some reason, they upset my stomach terribly now. But garlic is okay.

I hate the smell of fish and I can't stand seafood of any kind. Always have. I think I was traumatized as a child by my family's vacations to Wildwood Crest, NJ where the whole town reeked of dead fish.

Ahhh, the smell of garlic in a pan of hot olive oil!! Gotta love that. When my wife gets the garlic breath, I have to admit that I find it a tad nasty though. But that's a small price to pay for such a grand taste!
When I was a kid, my Mom used to cook up a huge mass of bloody kidneys on the stove. Holy moley, did that stink like an old dirty mens room! Sometimes it took two days for the smell to get out of the house. I didn't even much like the taste either....guess my Dad did. I can handle the smell of liver cooking but sometimes venison kind of stinks to me. I've only skinned one deer in my life and I never wish to do it again! Whewwwwwww!

Mexican food is like any other crusine, there is as many different ways to fix it as there are cooks. The best Chili Verde I ever had was at the little place in Shannon CA, the best Tamales were in Alamagordo NM, the best Chimachongas were in Pismo Beach CA, but the best Fiatas and Chili Relenos and Mexican seafood are right here in Texas. I have also had great Mexican food in Arizona and Colorado. The hottest Chili Relenos I ever had was in Bangkok Thailand.

There is a resturant in Los Angeles called "The Stinking Rose".

The Stinking Rose is also in Northbeach, San Francisco. Guess why I stay away from there...

PS: Gilroy stinks 30 miles against the wind.

I will be near you tomorrow. My son-in-law is going to take us to the Claremont, it is down from their house at the bottom of the hill.

Groucho,
I found that after 18 months, I literally couldn't smell the stuff. Took about 5 years to be get that back, and now cannot stand filling up my petrol fueled vehicle.

thanks for stating that. most folks don't know that california is 3 distinct areas that are different in many ways from each other.
southern-mexican border to ventura county
central-santa barbra county to the golden gate
nothern-marin county to the oregon border

Not to mention the east side of the Sierras. They are truly a breed apart!

Ya know, I think you are right. As a kid I would always hang my head out the window to smell the gasoline as my dad filled up the family car.

But after I worked as a pump jockey (once upon a time when they had full serve everywhere) for four years I no longer relish the smell, although I don't despise it either.

Hey, just picked up the new Mobil Oil motor oil brochure at AutoZone and it smells great!
