Back in May 2019 I bought and installed an Insinkerator Evolution Supreme SS model from Home Depot. Worked great until now. Hitting the switch makes the blade turn a half inch or less. I can barely turn it with the provided jam-buster hex key from the bottom of the disposer. It feels like maybe the motor bearings are seized or binding.

From the paperwork I have, it says it has a 7 year in home service warranty. Would this apply even if I installed it myself? Has anyone else got it repaired or replaced under this warranty?

we dont know your model number.
we dont know your warranty details.
we cant help.
good luck.

I had to take mine out 27 years ago due to compromised and undersized plumbing in the ole log cabin.

Where did I put that beast ... ?

Good luck. I have had limited luck with "visitors" to my house up here in the woods.
What could go wrong?

"Yes it's bad. I don't have one in the truck. You O.K. with a bucket under the sink hole for a couple days?"

Did you pull the rubber drain shield and look inside? I've never had an In-sink-aerator go bad in 50 years.
Wife even had one eat a shot glass once, and a fork!
Same here. They just bump the thermal overload. Power Down (switch and breaker) Wiggle the shaft CW and CCW then CAREFULLY remove the visible offending item. If it's jammed tight - No Hans Inderholle !

A Dish rag can jam 'em too,

But I bet a new InSinkErator is not a 1970's InSinkErator

Especially with a name like Evolution Supreme SS

This the East German Model?

Anything we say will just a speculation.
Best will be calling their number, who knows, they may just send you a new one.

Well, may be you need to send them a picture of the purchase receipt.

Mine kicked off at ~23 years of age. Nothing jammed, noticed it started sounding different for about a week then it just stopped and the housing when I opened the cabinet to check on was really hot. Ordered one off of Amazon, it's was pretty much identical in appearance to the original. I forgot to pull out the plastic plug from the dishwasher attachment. Had me all out of sorts until I went back and looked at the instructions lol.

I had one go bad after 18yrs but it was the shaft seal. It was just puking water down thru the motor. Not often do they break but 18yr run isn't terrible. Thankfully my kid came home and put it in for me last Fall

I'd try some garbage disposal cleaners in it first to see if that breaks up anything in there. If it's a heavy duty disposal short of any large debris it should rotate freely.

My Take you're on your own!
Who gave you the 7yrs in-home warranty? The Seller or the Manufacturer?
Had this been Installed by an accredited technician either the Seller or the Company would:
1) Try to repair.
2) Only after repair failed or was deemed unrepairable by a qualified technician would a new replacement be considered.

Since you're not a qualified technician, either Company will probably reject it.
But miracles DO happen, so perhaps you may luck-out.

That's good at least the warranty is given by the manufacturer!
I wish you luck !

An update. When I called Insinkerator back in May, they said it sounds like it is jammed with an object, even though I told them it sounds like the motor or bearings are binding. Yes, I could loosen it with the hex key and it would run a few seconds, but it would do the same thing again soon after it heats up. I let it go for now since I could get it running again with that key, but now it's totally seized. Trying to turn it with that key does nothing. Feels like I would rip it off the sink. Will have to call back Monday and see what they have to saw about it now.
