+1 My dad taught me this. I was present when a distant cousin came to him for a loan for tires. We hardly ever saw her. I was shocked when he gave her $400. She promised to pay him back and left. All this time I knew not to speak. When she left I blurted out you know she isn't going to pay the money back. He said yes he knew. Then explained she was a neer-do-well and by the simple act of that loan neither of us would ever have to deal with her again. Well he has long passed and I have not seen her for more than thirty years. He was spot on as usual.

Ha ha! I was going to ask if he was looking for a little action for loaning her the money. Wrong kind of girl for that!

My stepmom's brother is like this. Comes by when he needs money, then you don't see him for a while. He's a screw up, has always been a screw up, and will be until he dies. My parents keep "loaning" him money. Probably buys drugs or booze with it. I disagree with the whole deal, but it's my parents' money, so I never say anything.

My other parents loaned a bunch of money to friends a while ago and probably got 25% of it back.

Just not worth it.

Yep, this was probably when he let it slip that he spent $20 on p0rn!

You really need to find a responsible adult who you can learn about personal finance from. In the meantime...

Stop buying junk. Use public transportation until all your debts are paid and you've got at least $3,000 saved for a reliable car. You have neither the money, skill, nor patience to make a cheap car work for you.

Oh, and don't get arrested anymore.

Also don't loan money to anyone. If you have a few dollars to spare after your bills are paid, put it towards your debts.

You could probably stand to cancel your internet service and save that money too.

Can I borrow $500? You know I'm good for it.

Will you then start a thread looking for a $500 vehicle?

I like the small claims idea. I don't have a slam-dunk, (oral agreement, my testimony, and the ATM receipt for when I withdrew it on camera, but it wont get that far) -- but where would "small claims" even BE in Newark, NJ?

Judge Judy is the worst judge in history. And Mathis, etc (Chicago area..) - I think Milian would handle this better lol

But what about non-TV small claims? Essex County.. I could file in 6 days, as that is my next day off... ?

And Trajan, I have a thing against loud-mouthed people. (As to why I say "gang member?" Well, we have the tattoos, the apartment in the hood, the wole set-up of crackheads walking by and constant talk of police, etc etc.. yet they are the ones that act like YOU did something wrong, and tell you its YOUR fault you gave.. Yeah, I want to see what I can do in "small claims" because its WRONG! Unless its not possible.)

Check this out: I even got PROPOSITIONED!

This is what we are dealing with. Nice non-identifiable photo.

Can't buy a $500 vehicle with what I lent out, as fdcg27 said, in good faith. Maybe 1/10th what you quoted there.

Small claims is always an option. But I suspect you'll lose. Why? This thread is a perfect example. You claim this person has a gang mentality based on nothing more than tats and location and loud mouths.

Go into court with all that, and you'll lose. Unless you have evidence, and you have none, it can boil down to who a judge will believe.

1/10 of $500? So, about $50? Seriously? Just let it go. It's definitely not worth going to court over. Like bdcardinal said, for $50 you now never have to deal with this person ever again.

It won't get "that far"? It won't get you anywhere. You have absolutely no evidence. NONE! Drop it and cut your losses.

While it's nice to say "write it off", It's absurd for us as a society to allow this type of behavior without consequences. People simply need to be held to account, always! We as a country, are slipping because of this type of "tolerance". These people become emboldened, and the scams become ever more complex, expensive and criminal in nature. Until the point where they really hurt or destroy.

I have someone who owes me money (agreed to repair minor car damages) and 11 months later, refuses to pay. Sorry, but that low-life won't get away with it. Period, end of story.

If I recall correctly your Volvo needing "lady friend" you definitely seem to show a preference that would suggest avoiding compact cars

Uh huh. Blame society because someone doesn't repay? That's been going on for *centuries*. Research into how many banking houses were ruined because some ruler never repaid.

Held to account? Nice theory, but without evidence or records, just how will you do that.

How about some personal responsibility? You let something slide for 11 months, it isn't society's fault. It's yours. Period. End of story.

Time Techno took some responsibility and accept the consequences. One does not go on about how they have no money to fix their car, and yet lend money.
