Stopped in local PepBoys about a month ago for G-05 and its Coolant rack space was empty.
Today the rack space is gone and they stated that it has been removed from their offerings. They called a few stores close by and all were out. First employee pushed the All Makes All Models Prestone.

I had a few Pep Boys Gift Cards to use....have too much oil already.

The local Napa still carries it.

Maybe you can use the gift cards on tires ?

The PepBoys in my area still has G-05 on the shelf, but it is covered in dust, I guess people like to buy the least expensive coolant they can find.

I saw some at Autozone today.

Don't remember seeing it there before.

Also available at Ford and John Deere dealers.

My local Pep Boys carried the G-05 but they were asking $15 for it. Several local Autozones carry it for $11 or $12. I don't doubt that Pep Boys doesn't sell much of it for that price.

I did buy it at the local NAPA. Plenty in stock and he evened mentioned that he does get quite a few phone calls about it.

Autozone did not have it stock and the two stores I visited did not have any shelf/rack space for it.

Since PepBoys Corp. office is here in Phila I did email them for info.

The Pep Boys gift cards I pick up from my Discover Card Cashback Program.
A 20% discount to face value. I will find something for them :).

The local Ford Dealer was $34.99 a gallon. I did not call the Chrysler dealer for a price.

I guess we're the minority of G-05 users. In my mind - and according to Imcool.com - the only antifreeze people need to stock in their garage are G-05 and Dex-cool.

I don't even know what's in the all-makes-all-models or the house brands.

Unfortunately, Auto Zone has cleared out the Zerex G-05. You may see remaining soldiers on the shelf, but it has been discontinued. A lot of times, items come back after they are cleared out but for now, it's off the shelf.

Wow...that's outrageous even for a stealership. My local had it at 17.99 for the Motorcraft G-05. Your local is really sticking it to you.

I went in to Autozone today to buy some of their Zerex G05. Got it off the shelf, brought it up to the counter. The guy said that he couldn't sell it to me- it had been "made not available for sale by Autozone". Said he had to dispose of it. I asked if he could let me dispose of it- I'd save him the trouble. Couldn't do it. I asked if I could pay for a different jug of antifreeze and take the G05 instead... couldn't do it. So I guess about a dozen jugs of brand new G05 will just be pored out.

I'll go check a couple other stores for it. If I can't find it, I'll just pick some up at the John Deere dealership.

got to make sure they dont trick you... sometimes the "cheaper" bottle is a 50/50

For those around Phila., the R&S on Columbus Blvd. (by the Ikea) has had it every time Ive been in there.

That is odd and hard to understand why. Its still the factory fill for many vehicles. Not some experimental craap that did not work out.

exactly. we sell it for a lot less then $35 and make enough on it. a lot of times its cheaper for the dealer to actually buy the Motorcraft coolant then aftermarket stuff.

Hopefully NAPA will continue to carry it.

Last time I visited my local NAPA they had the Zerex version and the Ford version too.

NAPA'a the only place locally that carries the full-strength Peak Global Lifetime that I'm using in my vehicles.

Evidently, Prestone and others must be pushing the universal concept with the DIY market (Autozone, etc) and non-factory service shops.

Somebody should tell the factory to quit using the special fills that no one but the dealer can top off later.

Or maybe that's the way they want it.

Prestone, Peak, and other after-market antifreeze companies would rather sell you what THEY want you to buy rather than sell you what YOU want to buy. Time-honored American business model, the American automakers have used it for many years, look how well it worked for them !!

I have never seen it at any Advance or Auto Zone. The ones around here only stock all makes/all models.

I get my G-05 at Napa for $15 a gallon. I think it's a small price to pay to use a coolant that is actually approved by Ford for my truck.
