Better than that!

With that document intact, it rode through Isidore, Katrina, and everything in between high and dry.

Remove the air cleaner and do a visual inspection. If the top plates slide to the rear (similar to a pocket door in a house wall), instead of flipping open like a regular choke plate, it is a variable venturi. EDIT: Sorry, the answer had already been posted.

Yeah, there is that question. But if it was a Metairie car, its chances of having been flooded are less. Metairie didn't flood much, and the inhabitants of the western 'burbs were more likely to have used their heads with a hurricane coming and, yanno, LEFT TOWN.

Tammy Wynette's Lincoln Continental limo just sold in AR or TN somewhere two weeks ago for a cool $7990. I want to say it was a 1979.

The Craigslist ad has been pulled down, and the pics with it.

I'd buy one of these older ones in a heartbeat. They seem roomier than the Cadillac DeVilles of the 80s. (big car but I don't see all too too much room in them on the inside.)

I see ads for cars like this and ask if they have been sold.

Just recently, on EBay, I spent $115 on something that was so old it was "inventory error" an should not have been listed, according to the seller. Still waiting on that PayPal "Instant transfer" refund.. it doesn't happen instantly.

Yup, I have a BAG of them, as that was the only way Ford would sell them to me

I'd call that a fun car! There's other kinds of fun -- autocrossing, driving a nimble car in the mountains, etc. But smooth cruising is what a big car like this TC was made for.

I'm still looking for a nice panther to just cruise around in.

Clarkson is the Alexander Woollcott of the automotive press. Will anybody know who he is 50 years from now? (Oh, I know, he was just clowning.)

Nice car, I hope somebody buys it that appreciates it and not some young "gangster wanna-be" who trashes it and puts 24" tires on it!

In the car I wouldn't have a cat hogging my lap!

Since the chance at a 1-owner Jaguar XJ8 seems to have evaporated -- I haven't heard from the seller -- maybe I will stop by "Deal'n Doug's" this weekend and take a look.

Believe me, there are a lot of those jeans-hanging-off-their-rumps types around here. Perhaps I need to save this car from a fate worse than death. . . .

Any idea what oil would be good to run in it? Was there a 5w30 or 10w30 that Ford would have specified back then? (Motorcraft, or Shell "Fire and Ice," or something???)

You are in a warm State so either would be fine in it . I'd use a convetional oil given the year of it , Pennzoil Conventional or the like .

I didn't want to be the one to say it!

Save it from becoming another Orleans Parish Donk.
