Full synthetic Maxlife vs. regular Maxlife

Hello all,

I was just curious as to how good fully synthetic Maxlife is? Is it that much better than normal Maxlife? How good are both at cleaning?

I know blend MaxLife is really good,so full synthetic must only be better.If you want extended change duration.

The ONLY problem with full synthetic Max Life is FINDING IT!!

Full syn MaxLife meets the demanding ACEA A3 performance spec. And yes, the problem is finding it. I've seen it once or twice in the last five years or so...

O'Reilly by me carries it, but it is 8.02 a quart if I remember correctly. Now, they are the most overpriced auto store, and being Hawaii, that may have something to do with it. I just do not know much about it. Normally, many just talk about regular MaxLife

O'reilly's by me has 5w30, and 10w30 full synthetic MaxLife.

Yea, I have the full syn maxlife in right now, with about 3.2k miles and 6 months on it. Not sure how long its good for, especially since all my trips are <5miles... Never seen any uoas or voas on this site, but i would be interested to see if the full syn as a slightly different add pack maybe?

within the last month or so the Full Syn Maxlife has popped up at several places in my area (Oreily's and Walmart specifically) but only in 5w30.

Hoping we get some UOA's on here...

Found this thread from long ago. Pretty sure the Full Syn and blend have at least slightly changed in the last 5 years, but I'm sure they're still great products

They are both fantastic but "regular"/"Next Gen" Max Life is the better value. If you look at TBN numbers and additives the dino/syn blend Max Life is actually a pretty stout oil. The TBN starts around 8.2 according to some VOA's I've seen recently, while the Synpower Max Life starts around 8.5. The synblend also has a good shot of Moly.

Of course you get the added benefits of full synthetic, but that's a different topic entirely.


I would be comfortable using either, but in a pinch I would probably pick up "Next Gen Max Life" as some have seen even better results than the standard Max Life.

Hm, well if so the regular Max Life is still the better value unless you are super concerned with using a Synthetic (such as winter time).

Agreed. I think maxlife synblend is one of the best bang for buck oils in the market. Especially with the recent upgrade. Maybe that's why full syn isn't widely available.
