Fuel proof glue for nylon

I have a couple of gasoline cans with these fabulous spouts that are supposed to keep fumes in. The spout has a sliding section with a shutoff valve built in and a locking collar. The idea is you have twist the locking collar, catch the edge of the spout on the lip of the tank you are filling, push to open and fuel pours out. It would work great if it weren't for the fact that the sliding section leaks copious amounts of fuel on the ground. So much for being "CARB compliant and EPA certified".

I'm tempted to just cut the collar off and see if I can glue the sliding section of spout so it's permanently open and doesn't leak. If anyone knows if there's an aftermarket spout I can use, that would work too.

About $10. You trade hassling with the valve for it not being vented, so occasionally the fuel "glugs" as the can takes a breath.

It does include a vent, but I have not tried to modify my can to accept the vent.

Thanks for the link, funny how the picture includes the very spout that is giving me grief. I might look into that.

Gotta love their disclaimer that by law I'm not allowed to use one of these because they aren't emission compliant. Looking on Amazon it looks like there are lots of complaints about that brand, leaking seems to be a very common problem.

I wonder how many leaks are due to not using the right cap? Now my sample space is ONE, so take that for what it's worth. If mine leaks, it's far less than any hassle I get with either style of CARB approved cap.

Nylon is almost impossible to glue. The good news is your tank isn't Nylon. The bad news is the tank is probably polyethylene. Polyethylene is also very difficult to glue.

For the few seconds that it would be immersed, try 'SEAL ALL'.
A tube in a blister pack is $2. Ancient stuff, but withstands gas.
A VERY handy all purpose glue - a must have on the shelf.

Plastics? It'll be hit or miss, but your needs are not fixing a leaky tank, just a nozzle that sees a very short time of use.
