I have a number of fuel fittings on my motorcycle which currently have very brittle and low quality gaskets functioning to seal the fittings which I would like to replace with either some form of thread tape or thread "dope". Other than using a thread locker, is there anything which would offer rather permanant sealing while still allowing me to disassemble at a later time if I so desired?

If the fittings use a gasket, then they do not seal with the threads, and thread tape or pipe dope would probably not work. Only tapered threads do any sealing. Can you post some photos of the connection?

Exactly what I was thinking.

Fuel fitting are usually sealed with a flare, or something metal to metal.

Can we see a picture?

don't use teflon on fuel. fuel is so thin it can creep up the threads. It also tears into thin strips of a few microns in thickness, clogging injectors. I've got lots of pictures of it with a microscope.

+1 about teflon - never with fuel.

Sealers are indeed used by many on threads, but the actual sealing is done by a flare or other compression fitting.

So what is leaking? Why keep that hidden when you are asking advice?
