Ok all kinds of people think that Acetone will ruin all kinds of parts in a cars fuel system.
From metals, to plastics, to rubber hoses to any thing else you can think of even blow the engine.
I only realy know of 2...
One of the Lucas fuel system cleaners.
and.
GM dealer fuel system cleaner that comes in an "oil bottle" and is like $20.
So can you guys help me make a list of Fuel addtives that use Acetone?

I couldnt get a good chomatogram to post, but my
gc analysis showed no sign of acetone from the peaks of lucas UCL. Based upon its viscosity, the amount of acetone in lucas UCL has to be REALLY low one way or another.

JMH

SInce the whole acetone craze took off again, I had bought a gallon to mix with a gallon of toluene. I've been mixing 3 pts. toluene to 1 pt. acetone and putting about 6 ounces of the mix in a tank about once a month for the last 3 months or so... I'll let y'all know when the fuel system falls apart.

I know that Acetone, xylol, toluene and MEK won't hurt any thing.
But other people are to chicken to dump any thing but gas and store bought addtive in there tank.

Acetone and Lucas UCL don't mix well.
I tried it in a bottle, and they separated out quickly after shaking them together.
I don't know if this would be true when gasoline is also present.
Anyway, this shows that acetone isn't in Lucas UCL.
The same for marvel Mystery oil.

But how does acetone and UCL drive? I am curious about that in particular as Im currently using the UCL and would like to use B-12 along with it.

I dont get the mileage increase everybody else is getting with the UCL, although I do feel it is doing everything thing else Id like, Id just like to suppliment that UCL with the B-12s acetone and toluene.

Lucas also advertises UCL to not contain solvents: "A powerful blend of oils and additives that contain no SOLVENTS." Not sure where that rumor started that it contains acetone.

Lots (most, probably) of store bought fuel system cleaners/treatments contain kerosene or a similar solvent carrier.

SHortBus, instead of B-12, why not buy the stuff by the gallon and mix yourself? At the hardware store I went to, toluene was $8.50 and acetone was $11.50 per gallon.

I know I could mix my own, but B-12 has xylol and MEK in it too, cost bout $4 bucks for 15oz...with my small tank I can add 5oz each time with my 2oz of UCL.

One of us will have to try a mix in a separate container WITH gasoline, to see how it mixes.
Because acetone and Lucas UCL or M M oil don't mix well alone.
The added gas may make everything OK, though.

The guys that make B-12 chem tool also make "MMT+ octaine boost". It comes in the same shape container as B-12.
It too has acetone.
So we have...
B-12
MMT+ octaine boost
And it looks like that's it.
