Yes, it's their house brand. Someone should be a long shortly that recognizes the base plate to identify who actually makes it.

The one I picked up for visual comparison to other filters was a full inch shorter than any other filter I have.

Not a big deal, it could have better filtering capabilities yet a slightly smaller volume. I just find it interesting that it is slightly shorter.

I agree that the one in the pic is a Purolator though.

I looked at the picture first and thought that it looks like the Purolator filter for my Dakota.

Then I saw the part number.....bingo.

Purloators usually have the size stamped on them, so that would be my guess. I wouldnt have a problem running it at all.

I'm an O'Reilly store manager and all the Microgard filters are currently made by Purolator. A very decent filter for the price IMHO.

The Microgards are the lower grade Purolators not Pure Ones. Still when they are on sale, I buy them -- good deal.

Purolator as everybody said. The cartridge filters for my Ecotec from Purolator, Microguard, and Bosch are all IDENTICAL. I buy whatever I can get the cheapest.

I purchased a Microgard for a VW 2.8L today at O'Reilly's(cartridge type), it was $7.00 cheaper than the WIX model. I feel better about it after reading this thread. Also, shouldn't it be "MICROGUARD", hmmm...maybe it's French??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gard

The funny thing is, in my size, they are more expensive that a real Purolator at Advance Auto!!!
