Extended Guards are mostly around $7.95 each at Walmart around here.

the "7317" filters should fit... it's just a longer version of the "6607"

I know this because subarus use the same filters as mazda

That sucks but you do live in California and supposedly everything is more expensive out there.

If the price was the same i would say yes, but that's my opinion. It looks like i can get the P1 for around $2 less than a XG. I have both the XG and P1 in my stash.

I do believe the PureONE has a higher efficiency rating than the XG, but the XG holds more dirt. So maybe for really long OCI, the XG would be better. But they are also a bit more expensive.

mine: depends on how you're looking at it. the pureone filters better, while the extended guard holds twice the amount of debris. i want a filter that FILTERS better, so i dont agree with you

I can get a pure one for about 4.50 online if I shop around. Since my factory recommended OCI is 5k I choose the filter that filters better as well instead of how much it holds since I dont do extended OCI's.

I can get equal or better filtering in a Puro Classic or Bosch standard for ALOT less. I am running Bosch filters which I paid a little over 3 bucks for.

I am now using Bosch Distance plus (I was given one D3311 to try) online they are $11.49 combines PureOne high efficiency and adds high capacity. Just wish they were a bit cheaper though

If you get the AAP combo specials with them they are a decent deal.

I gotta start ordering from the US...

I've said this before, when it come to oil filters, I feel for you guys North of the Border.

Between the prices and lack of selection, it's a real bummer.
