Fram XG Extended Guard VS Purolator PureOne.

Hello,
I am the tech director at FRAM. The Ultra filter is 99% efficiency at 20 microns, the Pure One is 99% at 25 microns. The Ultra filter has less than a 1.5psi pressure drop. I have been using them on my 434ci windsor stroker Mustang and Turbocharged 350Z (VQ35) with great success.
If your a frequent oil changer, our racing filters can flow 18gpm, are 90%@20 microns and have 500psi burst strength.

Can anyone elaborate on whether this particular filter is an Ultra or not?

When looked up on the website it comes up as:

"Xtended Guard Premium Lube Filter"

Full-Flow Lube Spin-on PH3950
Tough Guard Lube Filter TG3950
Xtended Guard Premium Lube Filter XG3950

When you look up an application with a known Ultra it says Ultra.

Full-Flow Lube Spin-on PH3506
Full-Flow Lube Spin-on Fleet Pack PH3506FP
High Mileage Oil Filter HM3506
Tough Guard Lube Filter TG3506
ULTRA/Xtended Guard Premium Lube Filter XG3506

Thanks for your response ..

Yea but there is no Ultra cross to ph3950 .. True there is XG3950 but that's the old X2 filter ( not the new Ultra ). If you have Ultra for me then i'm definitely buying a bunch of these !

Awaiting for your response ..

The Purolator PureOne oil filter are rated at 99.9% efficiency @ 20 microns.

The Fram Ultra oil filter is 99%+ efficiency > (greater than, not at) 20 microns.

The older Extended Guard XG were 99% @ 25 um. Try looking up by application rather than crossing. AFAIK, all the XG numbers translated to Ultra... same numbers but a slightly different filter. I wouldn't be afraid to use an older XG if that's what you are finding.

MK - what's the oil flow rate and viscosity (or weight @ temperature) at that 1.5 PSID? As you know, it doesn't mean much without that qualifying info.

The fram ultra is an extended interval filter so unless you plan on running it 10000 miles(minimum) the added expense doesn't pay off.
5000+ mile intervals are easily attained with a tough guard unless your engine has accumulated deposits.

I believe Fram now rates the orange can for up to 7,500 miles, the TG for 10k and the Ultra for 15k and you gotta figure there is some fudge room in those figures.

You are not gonna wear out a TG in a single OCI.

It doesn't work that way .. I mentioned before that factory filter doesn't work with me anymore, not sure if you went through the whole thread or not ! Thank you..
