With all the talk of the orange filters I was a little surprised finding what appears to be a top notch filter from Fram. Seems to be a little on the expensive side, but, if it's among the best it may be worth the money.

Who knows? Alot of people on here judge filters only what they look like on the inside. Good or bad, there are plenty of people who get away with using Fram. I use either a Carquest blue, a Supertech or a purolator myself (Im not brand loyal).

We had a few X2s and Double Guards at my work, but they never really caught on. Too expensive, and do they really give you any significant benefits over a Pure One/Delco/Motorcraft/Mobil or whatnot? Heck, I couldn't tell you if they even perform as well (or perhaps as poor

)as a regular Fram in all regards.

Now, what about those much-fabled $50 Fram Shiny Guard filters? They're expensive because they're chromed inside and out. Actually, some people would probably buy them in that case.

The X2 is actually a good filter, this coming from a Fram hater like myself. Only drawback is the price of it. Too expensive for what it is, similarly made filters from other manufactureres can run 1/2 the price.

If someone dumped a case at my door and ran off, I would not hesitate to use them, I just wont fork over the money to BUY that case...

If you go to the Grease filter study at the top of this section, you will see an X2 was evaluated and declared good filtering, good flow.

About $9.97 at Walmart. Mobil 1 price range.

I actually think it's a cut above even PureOne & M1, assuming the BPV is decent. Justified or not, having a metal mesh surrounding the media makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside- I really wish the fabled "Hard Driver" filters were still available. I might try the Fram on my next oil change, as much as I hate giving any business to that company....

There are many posts here on the X2. The facts are other then the media, encaps and ADBV material, it has the same problems as the cheapo "Extra" guard. The ADBV is the same design(still IMO, the biggest weak point in the filter) and the bypass is the same(when applicable).
