My bet is yes.

Internet hysteria and ignorance mostly IMO but you're right, there are real Americans making an honest living behind those orange cans we need to remember that in a world full of Chinese junk.

My MC Fl-820s filters are MiUSA and when I needed a 15K filter, the FU was an easy choice because among other things, it is also MiUSA.

Quite frankly I don't think there was anything negative, disrespectful or derogatory in the slightest in your post(s). Also agree with 901 that based on previous history, your observation was accurate. If anything imo it is you that is owed an apology, and not a conditional one based 'if' this or that then proceed to imply your post was anything beyond what it said. And personally I couldn't care less what happened on some other nebulous site, especially when it didn't happen in this thread or with your post(s). My .02

As for the X2, according to the X2 container documented in the link below*, it was a 7000 mile rated oil filter in a composite container. The container was supplied by Sonoco. As an aside, some of the original X2's are still available on ebay too, though at the price listed (> Ultra) not sure why any knowledgeable person would purchase.

*New oil filter package for Fram X2.

date code is read like this-
located On the side it will be printed horizontally starting with a Alfa then 5 digits sample would be A32471 A=Plant 3=year=247 Julian date 1= shift
so this one would be Greenville Oh, 2003 or 2013, Aug 29th, first

Next up, no expiration date but we require any legit FRAM distributor to return or destroy any stock more than 7 yrs old.

Last- The X2 ceased production early 2006 and was replaced by Extended Guard, which is now Ultra.
Please let me know if I can answer any further questions, I am working at a trade show for the next week so email is the best way to reach me [email protected]

I do have a favor to ask. Please make an effort to stop referring to ExtraGuard filters as OCOD. There are 3500 people working in plants in ohio and illinois making 200 million of these filters a year. If it was indeed a OCOD, how on earth could we even stay in business? Just asking a favor here.

Great response Jay -- thanks.

I had to Google "Julian Calendar" to learn more. Unless I am misunderstanding something, 247 should be Sep 4th, 2013.

I looked at the FRAM filters I have in my stash and noticed the Ultra XG7317, bought in Canada, was not stamped. I am assuming filters sold outside the US are not date stamped? I have two other filters, the Ultra XG9972 and TG4967. Both were purchased in the US and both have been stamped.

Unless they printed the production info on the filter then covered it with the black grippy material my XG2 does not have any markings other than the paste on label
