I just want to thank car51 for cutting this oil filter open and posting the pics, he has done this board a great service since he has been here posting pics of used and unused oil filters for many members here. Awhile back he posted pics of a Motorcraft oil filter of mine that had 5000 miles on it and it showed some tears in the filter media.
So do the members here think I can go 20,000 miles on my next Fram XG2?
I guess next time I send car51 an oil filter to cut open I will be sending him a box of rubber gloves.

I've never seen any Ultra C&P here where the pleats were "jammed" together. I've seen other non-wire backed filters posted where the pleats were at least twice as tight as the ones shown on this Ultra. And even those are probably not "flow restricted" much at all due to jammed together pleats. A positive displacement oil pump might have to supply 1 PSI more on the filter inlet to overcome jammed together pleats. Really no concern IMO ... there won't be any oil flow loss, but a hair more delta-p across the filter.
