Kept convincing myself it was user error when handling these filters for my Volvo when the end would separate from the media. Well, I take the blame no more! The disc style end cap remained inside the filter housing after removing the filter.

This is the OG style with wire backed media. I will point out that this 11,038 mile filter interval came out cleaner than the previous 8,400 mile interval but that's just going by eye and bad memory. 😂

I have 4 of these left before moving to STP filter or Purolator. Here's the picture's...

That is surprisingly egregious.
Last Ultra I used popped its top when I was pulling it away from the Filter housing lid but this one being left behind in the housing was not me.. ha!
Yeah no deals for that part#. However your fram XG10415 cross references to MSL MSL51223 on o'riley website. I guess maybe the gaskets are different?
What I've dug into previously is that there is "alternative" Fram XG8081 filter that shows up as fitting my engine & BMW's.

FRAM Ultra Synthetic Oil Filter, XG8081, 20K mile Filter

When I compared the two Fram's website shows just a spec difference in size & Red vs White media. I was actually wanting to try that one at first but I'm done with these after supply is done. There were two engines for these XC90's the Ford built 3.2L & 4.4L Yamaha built V8. I wonder if it has something to do with the V8 or be so close in size that it can be used as well.

Had almost the same thing happen to me, but only partially separated:

Last one is in there now, coming out in 300 miles or so. Will post pics.

Thanks for the link. I remember yours & before I bought these I was reading some Amazon feedback that was pretty consistent so I had an idea that I might run into it but these ends came off everyone so far in one way or another. I kept taking the blame but this one that got left behind was the change I needed to see just how easy they separate after some heat cycles.

End cap staying in housing: bad. I’d use another filter

Thanks Captain for hard work.
