Fram Ultra vs Purolator BOSS - Silverado

35 micron is in the ball park because it's just Mann Fleece media. Look at the specs on some of the Mann Fleece filters for Mercedes. AdvanceAuto would be a good place to find that information.

The BOSS looks great in my opinion & I am about to run one on the Fiesta - I got it in an oil change combo with Pennzoil Platinum at Advance Auto, although I'm going to run the BOSS with Mobil 1 Extended Performance. The only problem I have with it - and all the rest of the new Purolator filters - is they have no technical specs on the filtering effeciency. The best you get is "99% dirt removal power", no listing of microns like FRAM does... But I'm sure it probably filters at 70%-80% at 20 microns anyway! I'm not sure why Puro won't reveal effeciency at 20 microns, it must be poor compared to FRAM. The old Puros were 97%-99% at 20 microns.

'For me', I would tend to trust info on Boss efficiency provided by AAP word of mouth, the same or even less than info provided by the PRO. Only if published publicly so it could be cited would that change.

Though I have another go to filter at the moment, doesn't mean I wouldn't use a Boss with or without a citing. Just that word of mouth information on matters like efficiency is not a reliable source for me. And I've been consistent with that thought across all brands and no matter who has supposedly or stealthy provided it.

In observation, it does appear to be well made.

^^Exactly^^ I want to see published numbers and what accepted standard they are based on. Someone once said that if there is no evidence for something it doesn't exist.
