No need to cut open a Fram Toughguard filter,Fram shows a picture of the inside of the filter on the box!! Guess what, CARDBOARD endcaps in plan sight!!! $4.97 at Wal-mart.

The famed Russ Knize oil filter study called the ToughGard "Not too bad". I still wouldn't buy one though. I get a NAPA Gold for what, less than a dollar more?

I think it's realy funny, they are doing the same in the Can wallyworlds too. LOL what's realy funny is that they got rid of the good Acdelco's for some company called defence with is made my Honeywell corp and are well fram's.
This is realy sad. Maby I should just stop buying my stuff from there and go to Canadian Tire for what I need and visit uap for my filters.

Good idea,
Not much Wal-Mart sells is quality. The Super Tech filters are esentially re-painted AC delco filters.

They have low prices, but then again you get what you pay for... especially in the automotive department.

Exactly things are only going to be cheaper because they are. I mean if all they are going to carry is crap for filters and what not they don't realy care about quality, they just care about how much money they can make, heck this week they upped the price on all there fram's by 10% I laughed when I saw that and walked away.

I too miss the AC's at Wally's. They are a great filter for the price, better than the ST's and any of the similar priced ones I have seen. The ST is as good or better than any of the rest except the AC. An ST and an AC are very different inside.

Yeah it ticked me off when Wallyworld stopped stocking the AC Delco. I really like that filter, along with Purolators. Now I'm trying out ST and they seem to be OK as far as startup noise is concerned.

Unfortunatly the Canadian wallyworlds don't sell ST. They just sell frams. I don't think I can have respect for the wallyworld automotive department anymore.

I agree about the only Fram filters . The tough guards seem alot better . The paper type end caps don't bother me so much as the quality [lack] of the orange ones. I would use a tough guard and the X1? filter seem real neat.

I just replaced a couple of K&Ns with the Fram, my gas mileage on my wife's Dakota went up along with power, and my 460 F250 4x4 is breathing easier, but maybe there is no filtering happening, Oh well can't last forever. I'll ask for a pay raise in case I need to fix something.

Uh, no offense Oilcan, but we're talking K&N and Fram oil filters. If it's breathing better with a new oil filter, then you've got worse problems than a filter will fix.

Most buyers don't know that metal endcaps are used on most filters. For all they know.......all oil filters use cardboard.

I have to ask this. Has it ever been proven the cardboard construction in a Fram causes problems or it just people's observation and inference?

Several years ago I cut open some unused Frams after I had sold the car they would have been used on.

On one of them the end cap wasn't completely glued, it had a definite gap.

It is obvious looking at how a Fram is maanufactuered that they try cut corners. I prefer to use a filter where the corner cutting isn't so obvious.
