Here are the pictures of a Fram Tough Guard TG3675 that was on my 1986 Jeep CJ7 with the 258CI (4.2L) straight six.

The filter was on for 1.3 years (31 months), 2,136 miles filtering 5 quarts of Valvoline High Mileage 10W-30 Synthetic Blend oil. The orange on the can was from me touching up the block with Chevrolet Orange-Red. It was a good paint mask prior to removal!

My CJ7 is a collector so it lives with intermittent small trip driving.

The filter and oil that went in are an AC Delco PF46E and 5 quarts of SuperTech 5W-30 Synthetic High Mileage.

Although there are some wavey pleats, all were connected really well to the fiber end caps. The silicone anti-drain back was soft and supple. I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge and until the engine oil gets hot, I see 60 psi on the gauge. When hot, it is at 30 psi.

Looks decent. I am curious though on why you went with the AC Delco filter instead of Mopar considering Walmart sells Mopar filters?.

Also the Supertech filters are the same as AC Delco they are made by Champ Labs but I believe you can get the Supertech a little cheaper.

I used to use the Mopar OEM filters. They are basically rebadged Purolator classics and don't even have a silicone ADBV. Not really worth the money IMO, and I cut open a MO-090 that had torn media a few years ago.

Yeah, I don’t trust any MOPAR filters. Won’t ever either

It's interesting, getting the Mopar didn't cross my mind. 1986 was the last year of the CJ then Chrysler bought the Jeep brand in 1987 and named it Wrangler.
Maybe because the steering column was made by GM and I retrofitted a GM big cap distributor I subconsciously went for the AC-Delco filter!

Looks very good to me. Thanks for sharing.

Pics of the Jeep?
Addyguy,
I must apologize for the late delivery of pics. I missed your request when first reviewing peoples comments!

My 1986 CJ7 is a resto-mod completed in 2007. The modifications I made are:

1. Replaced the Carter carb and the miles of vacuum hoses with the famous MotorCraft 2150 carburetor.
2. Replaced the AMC distributor and coil with the equally famous GM big cap distributor.
3. Replaced the cheap plastic fan guard and fabricated one out of aluminum.
4. Replaced the cheap plastic valve cover with a die cast aluminum one.
5. LED lighting all around the vehicle.
6. Converted to white face gages for better visibility.

The rest is completely stock including the correct size tires. The body is a fiberglass replacement of the rusted steel tub. All other body parts, drive train, frame, axles and suspension are all original. Color is GM Medium Blue.

Thank you for requesting the pictures!

Love it, colour is a nice change from the yellow/black/orange they usually are!
Huge fan of everything AMC, and those old Jeeps with the steel dash round speedo in the middle are just so old/school AMC!
Nice to see a real 258 AMC I-6; not a 4.0 swap!
