Hello fellow bitgo member be aware of this I have buy it this fs3614 for my ford 2.3 eco boost. The filter are get removed all will be getting inside filter in storage or when filter in used I am this about cleaning around with brake fluid before installing or maybe I will return it since it with 30 days . What another member think about it

It brand new filter I buy at Jan 25 2024 . I as think if I keep it I will clean it up with brake cleaner if I keep it and used it.

it’s on the dirty side of the filter, it will get filtered just spin it on. if you’re worried about it, wipe it with a towel.

If not they have 30 replacements policy in place . I will not return unless many members says it I posted here to get opinions and another member can be aware of it.

Exactly, there is what looks like an indent in the seal. Plus that apparently missing paint around the rim where it has made contact with something.

I have buy new from aap and I did make sure is no oil inside plates and has metal screen backing old style.here picture

Try cleaning up the base with isopropyl alcohol. Remove the base gasket first, clean it with cleaner on a clean rag. Wipe down the base gasket too. Reinstall the base gasket. Could also use brake cleaner too, but only spray the cleaner on the rag and wipe the filter, don't spray it on the filter.

I don't think this filter was used. If so, someone would have to have soaked the whole filter is some kind of solvent to leave no sign of oil inside the filter and in the media. The shot of inside center tube in post 13 looks clean to me.

If you are leery of using it, the take it back and exchange it for one you can inspect before making the exchange.

I gave my opinions above. Clean up the base and threads like I suggested, or if you don't like how it cleans up then go exchange it for one you can inspect to verify wire backed or not and clean. Or get your money back if not of those options work out.

Did you buy it on-line or in a Advance Auto Parts store?

I have seen these as new on YT. with the missing paint around the top rim.
Many complaints about base plate light surface rust too.
