What's the deal with these filters? AA not carrying them anymore? Fram not making them anymore?

Tried all five of my Advanced Auto stores in my area, and only found one FS7317 and two FS16 filters, and they were all at one Car Quest. AA website shows them marked at 74% off right now at $4, but none in stock except for at one Car Quest. I drive 40 miles to that Car Quest and they want full price for them ($14.67).🤬

This is getting pretty lame if I do say so myself. I was using Fram Ultras since they were introduced. Then they cheapen them in 2022 or whenever it was, so I jump over to Synthetic Endurance. Then Walmart quits carrying them at all but one store in my area, then even they quit. So I jump over to Titanium's for six months only now to find deja vu.

I'm so sick of Fram nonsense I would jump over to a Boss Purolator in a heartbeat if they went down to 20 microns!

No disrespect, but there are many threads here discussing Fram parent First Brands bankruptcy, and how that's affecting the supply chain for Fram filters. Fram quality has been going down over the last year too, and there are tons of threads discussing that also. Bottom line, find a different filter until the dust settles. I don't think Fram is going away, but right now is a bad time for them.

FWIW, the Fleetguard LF3487 is the longer version (FL1A equivalent) synthetic media version of this filter:
https://www.fleetguard.com/product/lf3487/01t5x000008FH4TAAW

100% efficient at 24.6 microns.

Not sure if the longer filter fits your application, but if it does, that's an option.

Yes, about a month ago I purchased a few of the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean oil change bundles from them and that's what the person told me is that Titanium is going away. For my car the filter selections were limited but did get the Carquest Premium and didn't know that it was well liked among the crowd here.

I had pricing issues with Advance before, I bought some motorcycle oil in the store that was on sale but after I left they didn't honor it when they rang me up, they did something and tried to give me a discount but I found a webpage online that had their policy about honoring prices. I returned it to my local store which also did not want to honor the price but did call the other store to find out what they did. I showed them the policy on my phone and they still balked, I finally said ok I'll just return this oil and then reorder it online for pickup, they decided to make it right. I can't remember the deal but it was something like buy 1 get 1 free or buy 1 get 50% off another which actually made the oil cheaper than buying it from Walmart. I think that deal was too good and they were losing money but it was on their website.

I can't remember the exact wording but the policy states that if an item is cheaper on AdvanceAutoParts.com than in-store, staff will match the lower online price.... A lot of times the online pricing is cheaper, I know Walmart can have different prices.

The Fram Force and Titanium have been on clearance at AAP for a while now. Seems pretty clear to me they’re not planning on carrying them anymore. I second what others have mentioned and get the CQ premium/EPs or other PGI options such as Microguard select and STP XL (Vietnam versions). There’s some others as well

My understanding is that the Titanium's have a seal on the end cap.
The PGI made filters (ie, Carquest Premium and MicroGard Select, and others) don't use a leaf spring like the Frams (PGI filters use a coil spring) ... so there's no concern about needing any gasket or leakage at the end cap. The bypass valve is built directly into the end cap, and the bypass valves don't leak.

What's this filter being used on, and for how long of an OCI?

I use fram's on everything I have. Cars, trucks, ATVs. All different OCI. The ATVs go through more filters than anything else. Typically doing oil/filter changes on them every 900 miles or 30 hours. I know it's probably overkill to run premium filters for such short times, but I am meticulous about maintaining them.

perfect use case for the carquest premium or extended protection. much thicker cans and better paint finishes. haven’t had rust issues on OPE or our four wheelers/tractor that i have seen with other filters. Fram is no longer a company worth giving money to. M+H can’t build anything with decent efficiency that has media that can hold up, and fleetguard/donaldson just don’t have many normal filter sizes with their high end medias. Premium guard has the passenger car market in a choke hold.

Advance Auto Parts has discontinued stocking the Fram and Purolator filter lines as discussed in this earlier BITOG thread.
