Thought I would share this stamped number information from a Fram cartridge filter that fit's on a 6.0L Power Stroke. The decoder thread did not help on this one unfortunately. I bought x3 of these off ebay for cheap & ended up being older filters.

On a side note: I have some Purolator One's too for this truck & I've reached out to M&H for a spec sheet but they are too old (10k version) & they only have the current spec sheets. I showed them a photo of the date code on those ones, which the decoder thread did provide assistance on, & they replied they were 7 years old & they state a 5 year shelf life on oil filters. I'm curious as to what Fram says for shelf life but I forgot to ask them. Anyways, here's the odd information on this Fram Tough Guard.

Code: 16016 M2
Decode: 1st shift, 6th Month, 2016 year, Plant 2

THIS IS WRONG KEEP READING

How do you know it's the first shift, 6th month? That's awfully vague.

Could it be the 160th day of 2016?
Well, That was from Fram message this morning. Either way I went back to look at yet another Tough Guard I have. It throws another curve ball b/c it shows...

16027 M1

It might be 27th day of 2016, Plant 1. And the code in the first post might be the 16th day of 2016, Plant 2. I don't think we can use "First shift in either one of these codes so yeah it's vague & clear as mud.

"Christian" was quick to get off the chat after I asked them if that was just a wild guess. This second filter I have proves they were incorrect. What a mess!

Right next to the C for Copyright, on the filter box, shows 2013 year on both boxes so 2016 is probably correct.

Yes; could also be 2016, and then the Julian date.
I think you're on to something. That's probably exactly what it is. That 0 in between both numbers allow rolling over 365 days. Since the Julian date tells the day, month, & the fact there's 3 digits makes sense. From the date code post it shows Fram uses the Julian date on other filters too so it shouldn't be much different here.

So...
16016 M2 = 2016, January 16th, Plant 2
16027 M1 = 2016, January 27th, Plant 1

Look about right?

It doesn't work. Look at the next code I posted on the other Tough Guard. 16027 is not a year format.
I was saying that "160th day of 2016" made sense (reply to dnewtons post) instead of your initial theory of "1st shift, 6th Month, 2016 year, Plant 2".

16027 would therefore be the 27th day of 2016 ("027" means day 27, aka day 027).

That may b as i can see the adhesive could be an age related failure point more so than the media but even then it should just have a use by date.

Right, I suppose it helps them keep track of quality control too. After looking at my stash of 2 TG's & 7 Purolators, & 1 TG installed in the truck right now with a good chunk of miles on it I guess I'm not worried about it. I've looked over these 7 year old filters & they still seem to be in great shape. $7.00 Each shipped to the door made it easy decision when these are normally $20+.
