Sorry, no pics, but I took this one off a Dodge 3.0L today that had been run one year (4,300 miles) with MaxLife 5w30. Pretty much all city mileage.

The pleats were uniform and there was no tearing at the seam. Everything looked good - no excess potting or separation of the end caps from the potting. There was even the good old string around the media.

Date code of 904131316. I'm not sure how to decode Motorcraft filters. If it's roughly the same as Purolator, then would it be April 13, 2013?

That's good. Running the FL1A in the Mustang that's been on there for almost 2 years. I'm not too worried about the MC filters, but unfortunately there have been a couple show up here with torn pleats.

I just pulled the 400s the other day, but I didn't cut it open. Tossed it instead. (Truck had other problems I had to deal with right after)

Motorcraft was all I ever used until the Purolator quality issues turned me away. Most say they have never had an issue but my OCD wouldn't allow me to continue using them. lol. Glad it did it's job.

Given the torn FL400S posted on here (See Thread Here) , I am concerned about them now. At first I gave the benefit of the doubt that Motorcraft's/Ford's requirements would mandate maybe better QC than Purolator branded products, but I guess not.

I may use a Wix product next time, probably a Napa Gold.

It was disappointing enough to see it happen with Purolator filters. It's VERY disappointing to see failures with Motorcraft filters, which for a long time were hard to beat for quality for the price. And what a stupid failure to have...tearing media? Really? How long have oil filters been in wide use?

At least they aren't all failing I guess.
