Changed the oil in my Generac Generator, 112 hours on the oil and filter, 5115 hours on the engine. This filter (previous model of the Tough Guard line, bought on clearance from Walmart) and Rotella T5 10w30 were in use for about 9 months. I put a Napa ProSelect 21394 back on, and some more T5.

The fourth pic looks like you can see the inner tube between the pleats. Must be the lighting or a metal seam?

Looks like light reflecting off the oil down in the pleats - also seen in the 5th photo. I'm sure if the pleats were torn that bad the OP would have certainly noticed it.

This.

It's oil. Every time I take pictures of my oil filters in this orientation has the oil reflecting light.

You can avoid that by absorbing most of the oil out of the media.

I think I will begin to change the oil every 100 hours and the filter every 200.
