2017 Tahoe @ 94K … half way in 5k OCI …
Bought this filter ~4 months ago - and installed with Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30. Decided to check for cleaning and how well the spring seals - saw nothing in media.
The fiber ends seal well with both the spring and silicone ADBV …
Spring was smooth. Topped up with a fresh quart of Valvoline Restore and Protect …
With great filtration numbers - it’s on my list …
ST MP went on …

Just out of curiosity, do you know about the maintenance history for those 94K miles? Is there any reason to believe that there were a lot of deposits in the engine?

The filter itself sure looks good. I have TG3600s on my Sienna & Highlander, hope the pleats on those look as good when I take them off.

Yes, bought new - ran mostly Mobil 1 Annual Protection within OLM …
Prior to Valvoline Restore and Protect - ran 25% EC30 for full OCI …
Both filters clean - Engine appears clean …
Will run Mobil 1 Extended Performance next with same MP filter …

I guess that explains why there wasn't much gunk in the filters.

I've thought of running that for an OCI or two in my Sienna & Highlander, although neither saw above-average gunk in the filters with 1000-2000 mi of HPL Engine Cleaner, so I probably won't.

Leaf spring is stamped smooth where it seals, and an obvious seal impression on the fiber end cap. Must not be using that ruffles stamping machine to manufacture those leaf springs.

I’m guessing he put more restore and protect 5w30 in? Thank You for great post and pictures

Hope we're friends again... :) If you're ever in my neck of the woods I'll change your oil for free.
Your filters seem to run clean & R&P didn't change that. Interesting & good to know since when or at what point does it make sense to run R&P. You're in the warmer south so that helps along with a big SUV should keep the engine warmed up mostly. You've kept up on maintenance & used good oil. Wonder if you used as directed w/x4 times in a row if you'd start seeing anything in the filter. One or two changes may not reflect what the product offers on a full scale (not sure how many times you've used it). The TG is a good fit for what it offers. SUV's seem to live many miles due to their build sturdiness so it should run you a very long time ahead.

Have enough Valvoline Restore and Protect for another change - but not pull a filter early …
Not sure how scientific the 4X thing is - but I’m game for a 2nd round of Valvoline Restore and Protect - it’s SP oil at the end of the day …

The R&P could still be cleaning things like the pistons and ring pack, or some light varnish you can't see, and not really give any evidence of that in the filter.

Fair enough - it’s over a year - so early next year I will do 25% EC30 right behind a tank with Redline CFSC …

I recently cut open a TG7317 (2023 DOM) used on my daughters Mazda CX-30 (with Pennzoil Ultra Platium 0w20) and the pleats looked perfectly even.
I have criticized the wide uneven pleat spacing on Fram filters in the past but this one looked perfect.

The guy on YT ("I Do Cars" channel) torn down an engine (don't recall what it was), and it looked like brand new spotless every where inside, but all of the piston rings were all gunked up and stuck in the ring grooves in the pistons. Apparently whatever oil they used couldn't handle the hot running ring land area, and/or the drain holes for the piston ring grooves weren't effective.

That would have been a Honda K20:
