Does Fram make any good products that people like.i hear a few negative comments on their bottom line oil filters but really nothing great about their other air/oil filters.I hear great/good things about Purolator/Fleetguard/Baldwin.On other auto websites Fram oil filters are regarded as garbage so word does get around.I don't see any of their products standing out from the others.Joe

I've used their air filters. More pleats than the purolator, although that doesn't really say anything.

I've also used Honeywell vacuum cleaner bags: good price, good service.

The Fram slam may not be as justfied as most here want you to believe. The air filters look very good same as the premium oil filter line. fuel & trans filters.

I like and use there air filters. The last purilator i bought was not very good at all. The rubber was peeling away from the paper media. I dont have a problem with there oil filters, thou i mostly choose purilator, wix or other more mentioned brands. Most of the fram slam i believe from the tear down experiment that someone did that showed that the frams compared to most others had less media.

I'm with Willix, slamming Fram's orange filter is good sport here.
Their air filters are good and their other, higher level filters are good too!
Like many, I've used their orange filters for over 40 years with no problems. It wasn't until I could afford a new car that I switched to the middle level oil filter. I still use their air filters, cabin filters, and PCV valves (rarely need one now).
With millions of their orange filters sold yearly, I think we'd have heard of any major problems with them.

I used the orange can of death on my cars for years without issue.
The main rap here is that you can get better construction for the same money, or similar construction for less money.
In other words, the value proposition is not compelling.
Other than that, you could use Fram oil filters forever and never know that they weren't really all that and a bag of potato chips.

Fram Air Filters are good

Fram Oil Filters are mixed. Their Extended Guard is made very well and at a decent price. Their standard orange can and even their tough guard line leave much to be desired in the construction and materials for the money IMHO.

I have used their fuel filters when needed and have not had any problems, but I have never cut them open.

There is good logic from those that feel a need to bash Fram when it comes to their basic oil filter product.

There is no question that you can get better construction and quality and the same price from other makers out there.

When it comes value the basic from oil filter is not too good at all.

Fram is OK if Fram paid you to use them, but as they cost as much as better filters, IMHO, they are junk.

yeah for their oil filter only the Xtended Guard is good and the rest get bashed for good reason as pointed out in other posts.

Air filters seem to be constructed good and I use them.

I have yet to here of any proof that orange Frams are bad. What are the facts? Where is the documentation that steel end caps are better than paper? The area where the paper end caps seal against the media has very little force across it. I would be more concerned about the center support, on Frams it is still steel and on some others is now a plastic cage that can fail and leave debris in the oil passages. (this center tube is where all the differential pressure is felt.). As far as the filter media is concerned, comparing surface area of two "different" filter materials tells us nothing about how efficient the filter is or how long it will last. What is needed are facts. How efficient are the filters at removing particles and what is the flow and differential pressure across the media for the service lifetime? These are the questions to be asked and not this filter "looks" better than that one on the inside.

Exactly. It is all guesswork.
