This was on a family member's 3.8 liter Grand Caravan. Unknown miles because it is new to them since last fall. I do know they ran it for ~4k miles with a bottle of Rislone Engine Treatment concentrate part #4102 that I handed them.

Only about 3 quarts of oil in the drain pan, despite assurances that they were checking the level, ugh.

Lots of oil still in the filter

Media looks very good, no tears found, passed the light inspection, solid everywhere.

Impression on the endcap for leafspring was perfect and a good solid fit.

Good work Jay!

Great filters. I probably put 300,000 miles on AMC 4.0 engines and slant sixes? without an issue. I did shift to other filters which appeared to be a better value, UNTILL I found out about media holes. Ed

Looks good. I would be more concerned with the oil level. The 3.8 engine is well known to eat oil. 2005 and up were serious consumers.

^yep I warned them, gave them more than a dozen quarts of Smitty's Super S.

Looks good.

I have about 1.5k yet to go on mine. The cold winter starts should be putting it to the test.

I am currently running a ph16 on my 1999 Cherokee XJ and based on your pics I am glad I chose this filter. Thanks for cutting it open.

That is one of the newer ones. Seems all PH16's after early 2015 have more pleats and better spacing like this one does. Looks good.

After noticing the improvements I tried one on my picky Jeep for the first time. Worked perfect and looked good upon removal.

KC, no rattle upon start up? That's impressive, considering all of the oil filters you have had to use to find the correct one's to prevent engine rattle upon start up.

It worked fine this last summer. Did not try it in the winter which is when the men get sorted from the boys so to speak. But I have had plenty of filter issues in the summer with filters that wouldn't hold the oil up in my Jeep, STP and Napa Gold to name a couple off the top of my head.

fram makes one good filter and its the ultra. Period!
Do you hear knocking when you first start it up in the morning? Those filters are known for start up noise.
Go with an ultra or anything made by wix for a good filter.

I have experienced 1 start up knock and that was just last week during our below 0*F weather. The filter has been installed since November.

Well, I need to make a correction. I did 2 oil changes on the same day to 2 Grand Caravans and assumed wrong. Sorry. This filter was on a 2004 Grand Caravan for a little over 4k miles with mostly Peak conventional 5w-30.

The filter used on 1999 GC was a Wix, which I will cut soon.
