Fram oil filters: Opinions?

I have used fram for years and swore by them, because of what everyone(mechanics, users)said about them way back when I was 19ish (15 years ago). I have never had a filter fail on me to date. So maybe because of my new found knowledge of better constructed filters, I have left Fram. Maybe I was swayed by the many cut filter reviews and the fact that the end caps are glued etc and maybe a few failure stories. But with my new found enlightenment, I will keep away from them, just because for the same price of a standard Fram or little more you can get a very well made filter with a anti-drainback valve and a bypass valve for cold starts or if filter gets clogged. So with a 100% of success record From Fram and a possibility of failure, I rather go with another brand and exploit there great features and far less chance of failure(because of safety features)that can lead to a engine damage.

I used FRAM oil filters for many years(20 yrs or more) and never a problem. But, I bought them very cheap(.99-$1.49). Today, they are one of the most expensive oil filters from "the stores in which I shop" and have been using other filters based on price. I have also discovered BITOG and don't consider FRAM oil filters anymore. I would however consider FRAM once again if the prices would drop to $2.00 or less. I do use their air filters now and again.
