I'm kicking myself for not stocking up on OEM Toyota filters when they were $4 each. I know I can go online and get around that price if I buy a case, but I'm not convinced I will keep this truck for another 100k. I've got another week to look around at filters before I have to change oil, so I looked at Walmart, see if I can get "reasonable" cost. I found two versions of the Fram CH10295 filter for my truck, a couple of newer and several older.
Looking inside the box though I'm thinking if I want to use these, I'd want the older made in Korea ones, right?
and not the newer made in China?
The Korea one looks better.
What really gets me though is that the newer one says it's good for 5k. Looking at the next level up Tough Guard Fram did not indicate "good for 10k" on the box (although other Tough Guard filters did say 10k). My application would be for... 10k of course.
Is this just some marketing exercise where Fram is trying to upsell Tough Guard over Extra Guard? [What's next, Macho Guard? Titanium Guard?]
