Fram OCOD vs Supertech E-Core

If you had to choose between Fram OCOD with steel center tube vs E-core, which would you choose? I am leaning toward Fram OCOD. E-cores that I see seem to have lots of irregular pleats

Having cut some of both open, I'd go for the Fram death can. I don't like e-cores, but to be honest, neither has failed me.

+1. WOW! I have to say the "OCOD's" really aren't as bad as people have ade tham out to be. I was surprised to see their 98-99% efficiency at 20 microns on their 6607 which is the super small filter that goes on my Altima. P1's (14612) are 99.9 @ 40 microns. I was an extreme hater of Fram but I am starting to turn a little and I would use a FRAM over an E-core.

I would use Fram. I never had any problem with them.At my local Wal Mart they are priced down to 3.00 for the orange can. This is the cheapest shelf price around here for a name brand .
You just have to ignore some of the people on here that hate Fram but have no first hand use themselves,just urban legend.

For the price of a Fram, I can get a Purolator or possibly a Motorcraft. I have a truck that takes the FL820S which also costs about $4, and I see no reason to use any other filter on that vehicle. However, for some of the other vehicles I currently have, I'd be happy to use a Fram if it was the most convenient to buy, or if it came with an oil change special. Same goes for Purolator, if I'm at the local Pep Boys, I'd probably buy the Purolator since they have a good selection of them at a reasonable price.

If Motorcraft made an "S" filter for all of my vehicles, then I'd probably stock up on those, if the price was right.

I think the OCOD is a basic filter good for a single, oil change of 5000 miles or so. There are plenty of better ones, but it still does the job. Don't "stretch" it for very long OCI's though.

Orange can over Ecore. I use neither, though our older subie used the OEM Honeywell with no perceived issues for 58K miles.

You misspelled it: its Fram OCD - b/c anyone who 'won't run one' has retentive issues. It won't kill your engine.

I'd use the Fram over the ecores, but only if that was my only options. I quit buying Fram over 15 years ago, but use them if they are free. I've also quit buying STP filters since they went ecore. I have a couple that were bought before I knew that and didn't know until I looked in them before use. I haven't decided on what to do with them.
Both are junk, but Fram is the lesser of the 2 evils by quite a bit.
