Guy is pretty down to earth and particular and watching a video like this shows you how you can't judge a filter by just one feature.
He mentioned covid, I think there's a lot of crap out there we'll be going through for years because of mfg issues related to covid.
I hope I never have to buy an entire vehicle that was made during covid era.

I like the microscope look at the media. The Denso does look like it would have worse efficiency, and of course they don't advertise what the efficiency is ... probably for a reason. The Fram is suppose to have a silicone ADBV, so if that was the case the Fram is going to be a better performing filter in terms of efficiency and the ADBV over the upto rated 10K OCI.
On a side note, I was at Walmart a week or so ago and looked at 5 or 6 different PH Frams and they all had orange silicone ADBVs, so maybe Fram is back on track with their supply chain.

Take the date code into considration ... it was made in the beginning of 2022, so quite a while ago.
Cut open a nitrile ph4967 couple months ago, nice filter. I think the OEM toyota filters look better than these denso but they also have nitrile adbv. Glad to hear they are back to silicone, but the nitrile did great for 5k/6mo.
It's been shown that the OEM Toyota Denso filters have a greenish-black colored silicone ADBV.
was it ever confirmed it was silicone? Both filters are around $4 May try that next time. Last time I cracked off a Toyota filter on my camry it didnt seem to hold as much oil as the fram
Burn test will tell you if it's silicone or nitrile. Look at the color of the Toyota ADBV ... it's a greenish-black color, not a real black like nitrile is.
I'd say nitrile is fine for 10k which is why they pulled the switcharoo. The ACDelco/Supertech use nitrile and with GM's OLM can go as long as 10k. Supertech is rated for 10k nitrile and 20k silicone. Maybe that is a generous rating, but I personally have ran an ACDelco to 7500 and adbv held up.
Most recently, by their own admission FB/Fram made the switch to black nitrile because of supply chain/shortage issues with silicone. And, the Fram switch to silicone adbv coincided with the change to 10k mile (from 5k mi.) box and website recommendation. I'm not aware of any other change in the EG. So, while nitrile may be good for 10k, in the case of the orange can, the change to the longer interval seems entirely based on move to silicone adbv. Personally, I think nitrile best for ~5k mi/~6month standard oci. Doesn't mean they can't be run somewhat longer with little or no issue.
Since mentioned above by @ZeeOSix , wanted to make an additional observation about Toyota Thai Denso oil filter adbvs. Depending on the application, there are two different color adbvs. The dark greenish one the -YZZN1 posted in the YT above. There is also a true 'solid black adbv' used on the YZZD1. The latter was posted this subforum with a burn test showing it to be silicone. As it is the only black adbv to burn test as silicone I wanted confirm the result posted this subforum. A burn test confirmed the silicone finding of the Thai Denso black adbv as silicone. It remains the only black adbv not in compliance with Occam's razor. I still have the YZZD1 with adbv if further proof necessary.

I'm thinking the "black" Denso ADBVs only look greenish-black in the right light ... but that would have to be verified to confirm.
Would only be misleading to people who actually know the difference. Anyone is free to start a class action lawsuit against Fram for false advertising.
There is a comment in the YZZN1 yt posted where WCW addresses the adbv color, his response, "it's a dark green." Fwiw, it looks that way to me too in the video. Otoh, in any light, for me there's no mistaking the YZZD1 adbv color for dark green. Looks black and is.

Would have to see them both side-by-side in the same light to know IMO. Then burn test them both. If you have the YZZD1 might want to get out a strong light and a lighter.
Nahhh-“supply chain issues” are a great excuse for greedflation these days! First Brands is just joining the crowd.
I think it was supply chain issues ... othewise the current PH filters on the shelves right now would not have orange ADBVs. All the PH filters I looked at last week at Walmart all had orange silicone ADBVs.
