This came off my Daughter's Jeep Liberty. Run was 5,200 miles with Rotella Gas Truck 5w30. Looked like it did it's job just fine. Media spacing is decent. No rips, tears, etc.

Looks good. Is that the new 10K mile one?
Thanks for the cp.......

Orange Can of......plenty good enough. :) I have not seen a report of extraguard filters having any major issues on 5k mile commuter applications.

While the lack of metal end caps raised more than a few eyebrows, the engineer that implemented that should be patted on the back. I'm sure they were tasked with reducing cost dramatically while keeping reliability. looks like it was successful.

I was once a person that told friends and family how big a pile of junk Fram was for not having metal end caps. The truth came out when I started cutting open filters. Granted I’m in the auto business so I probably see more filters in a month than most will in their life, but the fiber end caps are not the ones failing. I’d have to say that the adhesive used to bind the media seems to stick better to the fiber than the metal end caps. Some filters lose the metal cap just taking it out of the cut open can! I use The Tough Guard line from Fram for the extra little bump in media strength but wouldn’t hesitate to use an Extra Guard in its place if that’s what I had.
