Fram Endurance FE10575 Engine Knock

I have a friend that changed his oil on his 2022 Silverado 1500 5.3 with 70k miles. As soon as he started the truck he had a consistent knocking/ tapping sound as if a lifter collapsed. Idled for 20 min no change. Swapped back to old Amsoil EAO17 and noise is gone. What's wrong with the new filter? Louvres are ok. I have to ask if he can cut it open.

Years ago had the same issue with a Fram filter in a Toyota. I don't know why. But changed filter to a Toyota filter and was good.

Cut it, Inquiring minds want to know. Suggest to him maybe turn the engine off after 20 seconds of knocking vs 20 minutes. It is a 5.3 not a 6.2.

This needs a serious look into the filter if it's suspected of causing engine damage. Get a cutter on Amazon if needed.

Gotta be something strange with the filter. If the ADBV is causing a big restriction for some reason, then the bypass valve can't even operate to supply oil, and the pump would be regulating first causing a lack of flow.
